I didn't see a second of the Michigan game on TV, and haven't seen any highlights, so I thought I'd provide a few thoughts on what I saw just from reading the boxscore:
--We rebounded them 38-11?!?! That's just downright sick. But still...we outrebounded them like that and only won by 5 points?
--We turned the ball over 17 times. I guess this helps explain why we only won by 5 despite such a huge rebounding edge, and I'm sure Nolen's absence had something to do with it. Still though, flipping this around...we turned the ball over 17 times in a conference road game and still won by 5 points?
--Free-throw shooting continues to be a problem. It's not that it's always bad, but the inconsistency is as or more concerning than the overall season FT% figures. And if I were the rest of the B10, I'd never let Colton Iverson take another shot in the paint without hacking him. We all know he has upside and can be a good defender, but he just can't cash in from the charity stripe.
--Respect the Hoff. Even from the boxscore, he looked like the best player on the team Saturday night. Lots of minutes, putting up numbers in several categories, shooting a good percentage and taking care of the basketball. I think it's time he start getting some serious consideration in all-conference discussions.
At the end of the day, a 5-point win at Michigan and a three-game conference win streak...I'll take it. Gladly.
