Michael Rand: What if ... nobody knew who Jan Gangelhoff was?

A lot more NCCA tournament wins, a better home envrironment. At least one of Pryz and Rickert develop the trademark toughness of Tubby's post players which would alter their careers in pro basketball (Pryz still had a solid career, but if he had a little more of an edge he could have been a starter). I think we'd be playing on more of an even footing with a lot of other schools if not for the "scandal". Another change in the course of history: No Joel Maturi. I don't think it's possible for this program to endure a worse decade and a half or so than it did, and I think Clem puts together very good teams during this same time period.

How would Pryz and Rickert developed the toughness of Tubby's post players?

Because they would have gone to Kentucky, Minnesota would have been so good they'd only have been offered walk-on spots under Clem.

dpodoll, by the time Trevor Winter left the Gophers, even he had developed a bit of a mean streak. I think it is very likely that Pryz would have become a more physical player under Clem.

I concur. I'm just wondering what any of that has to do with Tubby.
