Michael Rand: TCF Stadium looking in game shape

Love all the dumbasses in the star trib comments complaining that its turf and not natural grass....

Reading comments on Strib articles is a good way to lower your IQ.

A stadium to be proud of

I had the pleasure of taking a tour of the stadium yesterday and believe me, its everything and more than what pictures and verbal descriptions can give.

I don't know where to start, but just one thing that went through my mind.

From the press boxes the feeling is that one is practically over the field and looking straight down. That will be the level of the "3rd deck" if and when the stadium is expanded. What a view and sight lines!

The worst seats in my estimation is where the band sits. They will only see the plays on their own end, otherwise the big beautiful scoreboard will have to be used.

All I can say is that go to the open house and scrimmage at the end of August. They estimate that between 30 and 40K will show up.

Nice to see Michael Rand didn't get his story from "Pantherhawk" (or some other insane Iowa blogger) this week.

Anybody notice the large video scoreboard in the picture?

I can't say I'm surprised, but with all the ads around the thing, it looks about the same size as the "small" video screen on the east end.

It will be interesting to see how much they utilize the entire screen for replays and live shots without the border of advertisements.

Can the strib offer an IQ test before these idiots post? Oops I mean Iway people...

Did he think that they would be running...

around on September 11th slapping stuff up?

The entire screen can be used for replay. The ads you see there are just part of the tv picture, which I would guess thy will do every once in awhile.

I'd expect the ads to be there most of the game (certainly while the play is in progress) and (hopefully!) removed for replays. I'm sure they won't be there for entrance videos, etc.

I'm glad he (and the rest of the media) seem to be doing semi-regular updates. It keeps it front-and-center that the stadium is coming along nicely (for those who do not follow the Gophers and the stadium situation closely), plus if they didn't some people here would be griping about not getting coverage.
