That's awesome. He had one heck of a senior year here.

Proof that good things can happen if you turn your life around and work to the fullest of your abilities.

Underrated player with great instincts. I was stunned he didn't get some interest albeit I believe he was injured pre-draft after his Sr year.

Good luck Michael! You were awesome to watch and I hope you make it.

Never made sense to me why he seemed to not even get a real shot after having such a great year

Yes he was. Below is from 7/23/2013.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – As NFL training camps begin, there’s a forgotten delegation – the players still hoping for an invite.Former Gopher Michael Carter is in that camp, but he brought in a top-flight tutor to help him out.
Carter’s working on getting back to 100 percent after an injury in the Vikings mini-camp cut short his immediate goal.
“I’m about 70 to 80 percent right now,” he said. “I had a torn ligament in my foot.”..

He had a good senior year. I hope he sticks in the league for a few years.

Love this series from the 2012 season when he just straight dominated Purdue on their possession and got that pick 6. The TV announcer's voice inflection when he picks it is great. Best of luck Michael. Do the U of M proud and congrats!

I remember that he worked out with the Vikings for a while last year.

Good to see. If not the NFL, I think he has the right game for the CFL. good tackler and good nose for the ball in the air.

Real happy for him, guy really turned it around and I always wanna see that rewarded. A great example for others.

That was one of my favorite parts of the last few seasons. I'd put it up there with Engels TD vs Nebraska.

CFL, CFL? (Playoffs?). Imo in terms of pure talent Carter>any db on our roster last few seasons. He had some phenomenal games and plays and has natural talent for the position. Is this a case of a player being colored in terms of fan perception by his previous three years of off the field issues and on-field mediocrity? Brock Vereen was projected as late round or udfa until the combine. MN players have to work harder to get recognition.

Well see if buffalo gives him a shot.

That series of plays of Michael Carter was the most impressive thing I had ever seen from the Gophers. I really hope he gets a chance to take that next step and make an NFL team.

I don't know if it's just me, but it seems like more and more Gophers will be drafted in the coming years. It seems like a good trend, because I notice our seniors seem to be able to compete against anyone in terms of strength and speed. Shout out to Coach Kill and his staff, including strength coaches.

That's the biggest thing that's been missing the past few seasons.

Interestingly, or not to some of you, Michael carter had a top 10 statistical season in 2012. Top 2 in the big 10. He didn't have a great pro day, running a 4.63. The body of work seems to mitigate his relative lack of speed.

Kind of a lazy evening in the elitist household. So i have been ooking through some Yikings related stuff and decided to check out the bills situation. Apparently 4 or 5 cb slots are locked up so MC will need to really impress to make the final roster.

Also under things that may interest only me, David Amerson out of NC State had 13 interceptions in 2011. Anyone know the single season INT record?

This reminded me of another amazing series of plays and, since it was Tyrone, I thought I would stick it in here. I believe this happened in consecutive possessions by Syracuse: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rM4sdrZmPM.

Loved that Purdue series. Not trying to knock Carter's great play, but how stupid can a quarterback be? "Three straight deflections? Let's go at him again!"

14 ints is insane, especially in 1968.

I was pondering why Buffalo of all places gave Carter a shot. It just seemed odd to me. I figured maybe Tyrone had a connection somewhere.

Then I realized head coach Doug Marrone was head coach at Syracuse in 2012. As was Nathaniel Hackett, the Buffalo offensive coordinator and Donnie Henderson, defensive backs coach. They knew him, they scouted him, and maybe they remembered the name and checked out his tape.
