Please hire back Gordy Shaw as your inside lineman coach!

He couldn't provide enough Big Ten Wins.

Not before David Gibbs and his famous father are ushered back into town as assistants!

Lets relive the Glory Days of Gordie Shaw. Ahh to be 6-7 or 7-6 again with wins over 4 MAC teams each year and 3-5 0r 2-6 in Big Ten games. Yeah that's what we want.

Gordy shaw had little say in the Mason era style of football. what he did provide was a outsanding list of year in and year out interior lineman that were all recruted and molded by him from local schools.
He is a great coach that truly bleeds maroon and gold. You would be upset too if you were fired from a place that you thought truly appreciated you.

FYI Shaw was not a mason hire, one of the best things mason did was keep Shaw on staff. Shaw produced some of the best D lineman in gopher history during the first part of Mason’s tenure and then went on to groom the interior O line in Gopher history in the last part of Mason’s era.

I know it has been rehashed on this forum for a long time but now is the time to actually talk about hiring the staff. So go ahead and flame me for only having 35 posts obviously my post count determines if I know anything about this coach.

We're not doubting you know plenty about Gordy Mrs Shaw......we just would rather you enjoy your stay in Hawaii a while longer and stay as far away from here as possible.

You've convinced me that Gordy is the ONLY coach in all of college football that can possibly have success with lineman. MATURI GET THIS DEAL DONE NOW!!!!!

Post Script - No need to feel insecure about your post count

Anyone notice how quiet it is right now? I'm almost bored with this whole process.

I would actually be fine with the new coach hiring back Gordy Shaw or even keeping Tim Davis.

There is no doubt the OL has improved tremendously :)D) the past two years, especially this past one. They dominated a pretty good Iowa DL in the last one.

id love to hang on to davis. look at where the o-line play is now and then think back to the beginning of last year

Having been in this particular position before, our policy was to hire back good employees, but people who had been bad emloyees, or had caused problems after they left were persona non grata, no discussion. It is a character issue, you don't need folks like that on your team. Gordy should have no future here, and it is his own fault completely.

There are legal reasons to defend the good name of former employers.

Gordy Shaw always did a GREAT job at the Uniersity of Minnesota...

I agree with you completely Acemac. Gordy Shaw was one of the best position coaches the University of Minnesota was ever fortunate enough to have had.

We would be very fortunate to have him employed by our football program again some day...soon I hope!!!!! ; 0 )

The people who are so thin-skinned around here who are so outspoken against him need to have the other side of their issue expressed and stated to make sure that this is a fair and balanced site. There are other points of view than the point of view that the kangaroo court bunch spout off about you know...

You can only try to beat up on a former coach for so long and then it is time for some people to stand up and talk about the good that person has done and does stand for. That is human nature and it is the good thing...the right thing to do when some people keep taking shots.

Gordy Shaw is a REAL football coach who always did a GREAT job in this University of Minnsota Football Program.

wow is it possible that another person on this site actually understands the big picture in college football?

No question. I wished Brewster would have had swallowed some pride and did some research and kept him on. However, if what Shaw said after he left is job is true, then he needs to stay away. Burned bridges are just that. Burned.

Presumably football coaches around the country understand the big picture, so if the big picture included hiring back Gordy Shaw, wouldn't he have been snatched up much sooner?

Thanks for my best laugh of the morning.

Davis has done a really good job since taking over the line. Of the current assistant coaches, he and Hammock are probably (in my view only) the most likely to receive serious consideration for retention.

He is without a doubt a good line coach. However, he burned bridges and it was his choice to do so. Like with any job, once you burn those bridges, you're not coming back. There are other good o-line coaches as Tim Davis has already amply proven.
