This is my frame of reference on the matters of today. Think Teague was/is a good guy who made a bad misake which cost him is career....at least for the time being. Meanwhile, the football program, what 98% of U of M fans care about, is in great shape with great leadership and our season starts soon. This is all I care about in the end.

Last I checked Norwoord Teague, and no AD in the country, plays between the lines on game day. His resignation due to his own personal matters has and will have no impact on how our football program will play on game days. All the Teague, and who will be the next AD fodder of the next couple weeks is really for talking head media types and other folks who care more about discussing external matters outside of the state of the various athletic programs themselves.

Ski-U-Mah! Go Gophers!

I guess Coach Kill will NOT be the low man on the totem pole when it comes to scheduling non-conference games.

It might impact the football team if we lose recruits that were promised the facilities project would start by a certain time and we keep pushing it back and back. I agree with everything else you said though, it really shouldn't be too big of a deal but could really change the fundraising for the new facilities.

I dont think this has a bearing on the schedule. Sure companies were contacted by Norwood but they were giving to the U of MN and still.

ADs call the shots in the world of college sports. we are now back to square one. tho it is possible we never moved off start in the first place. we suck.

I think Kaler understands the importance of revenue sports and especially football. He will hire a good person for the job.

We are in the process of finding out how good he is, so far he's doing fine, finding a new AD will be the ultimate test. I'm glad this didn't fester and that it has been dealt with decisively.

Nope.

Hey Chicken Little, I guess you forgot to give Kaler the word. As coach Kill would say you can tell a lot about a person by how he handles adversity. Your post certainly speaks volumes about you.

Here's a thought. This ramps up the pressure on the U to break ground this fall on the facilities project. If they break ground this fall, then people will be re-assured that everything is going to be OK. But, if (for whatever reason) they don't break ground this fall, then it puts Kill and the U into a very dicey situation. If I was a betting man, I would say there is a very good chance they find a way to break ground this fall, even if they have to use some "squishy math." (apologies to Mitt Romney)

+1. to be fair, i think he is just trying to get a reaction out of folks and stir the pot.

Kaler did hire Norwood. He'll probably find someone of the similar profile. Hopefully with better character.

This megatongue-gate took the thunder off the excitement of the TCU game little bit for me.

It circumvented the focus and attention away from the football team on the first day of practice, and Jerry Kill's & staff's imminent pay increase.

This all falls on President Kaler and how he proceeds from here. So far he seems to be in good standing and appears to have taken the proper first steps. Kaler and the Regents need to amp it up and keep things rolling in the right direction. There is a plan in place and positive comments and reports from the people in charge will right the ship and restore confidence amongst the staff and the public. Kaler fully understands how important a strong football and basketball are to a university.

I'm not worried in the least. This is merely a bump in the road. Keep the eye on the ball!!

NT is gone. He will be replaced with a quality person who will pick up the job description and get the job done. He/she will have the full support of Kaler and the Regents and Kaler and his AD team will keep moving in the right direction.

Kaler hired a basketball guy first time around. Let's get a football-focused person in there this time.

+1. Don't get me wrong, I am not suggesting that it needs to be someone who doesn't care about basketball at all. Quite the contrary. But it certainly should be someone who understands and fully supports publicly the fact that FOOTBALL is and always has to be supported as the #1 son at the U of M.
