...because according to the Star Tribune, the Miami Dade County state attorney says a Dec. 14 court date is "unlikely." Mbakwe's lawyer says he does not expect to go to trial until 2010.
WHY?! WHY?! WHY?!
This just doesn't look good. If this team sustains any injuries, I don't see them being able to win more than 15 games.

Trevor's long term future is a lot more important than playing basketball this year. Why won't the trial be held in December? The defense needs witnesses that are scattered across the country and won't be available in December.

This team did not have White or Trevor last year. Returning players are going to be significantly improved and we did bring in two other guys that should be able to contribute. Would I like to have both Trevor and White from the start of the season? Yes. This is not a Monson team -- we are no longer reliant on one or two players. Relax and enjoy the season!

ALL I WAS SAYING IS THAT THEY WILL HAVE TROUBLE IF THEY SUSTAIN INJURIES. OF COURSE THEY ARE GOING TO BE GOOD IF THEY STAY HEALTHY!!!!!

The Bike...

One thing I haven't seen anything on is the bike. Did the victim describe to the police what kind of bike the suspect was riding? Does Trevor own a bike that fits that description? If not, did he steal one? If so, did someone in the area report that a similar bike was stolen from them? Seems like a critical piece of information to me.

Can you please post a quote or link to the Strib article you are referencing because I can't find it?

If Trevor is innocent, I just don't understand how it's not in his best interest to get this case going ASAP. Very few jurys will convict someone based on circumstantial evidence so I'm wondering if the prosecutor has something else that we don't know of yet??

Pulled from article: "Mbakwe, meanwhile, could miss the entire season. Terry Chavez, spokeswoman for the Miami Dade County state attorney's office, said Tuesday that "a lot more depositions need to be taken" in Mbakwe's case before it goes to trial, which she said makes the scheduled Dec. 14 trial date unlikely. She said both Mbakwe's lawyer, Gregory Samms, and the state attorney's representative in the case will meet with a judge Dec. 2 for an update."

I'm hearing that Dodson might be called as a witness during the trial if it takes place.

Let's see. Everyone is back from last year's team, which made the NCAA tournament, plus we have R. Williams and Cobbs... Seriously, get a clue.

It's best not to rush a serious matter like this...i'd rather have him get everyone straight so it was be a no doubter instead of going into it not 100% prepared...

corey blount

if things look good, he might be able to play (i have no inside information on this), so don't count out this possibility

There are potentially a lot of reasons why. Witness availability is one possibility.

Look at it this way, we were quite good last year without Mbakwe, we didn't graduate anyone critical. We have two really good freshman coming in with White (if he gets back on the court) and Rodney Williams that will provide any depth that may allegedly be missing. Another year of maturity for Ralph and Iverson. We'll be fine.
