Hello all. I understand that the Pioneer Press reported that the prosecutors do not anticipate Trevor's trial to go forward as planned for this coming Monday. Nevertheless, I was checking out the online docket sheet for Trevor's case to see if it provided any insight into trial.

Here's what the docket sheet suggests:
- Samms (defense counsel) has submitted mutliple witness lists. His latest submission was on 1-8-10. It would be interesting to know who Samms has on his list and who each person is. Wouldn't it be nice of the local media actually rolled up its sleeves, got a copy of this (publically available) pleading, and reported on who the individuals might be. That would reek of effort though.
- Summons have been issued for Lazaro Daniel and Kimberly Gonzalez. Victoria Martin, Nicole Albanese, and an unlisted individual have had their depositions taken. Does anyone know who these individuals might be? I can't recall specific names of witnesses (roommates, other basketball players, etc.) from prior news articles.

Be careful what you ask for. If one of our fine papers ever actually makes an effort at something it is usually an attempt to completely destroy the U's sports program.

You're right. I won't get into this here and now, but the more you look into the details of this matter, it gets more and more ugly.

If you really want some more information, it can be had. The reality is that its a very serious charge and you never know what a jury will do, if it ever does go to trial.

Spelling correctly would reek of effort.

Not if Sid has a close personal friend in the Dade County court system. The problem with that however is Sid still can't pronounce the full name of that "Trevor guy".

Victoria Martin

She's the only one that is familiar. I'm fairly sure, aside from Darnell Dodson, that she's the key witness in his defense. I don't have time to look it up, but, I believe Trevor was living with Dodson and Martin and the party was at their apartment. She's the key or one of them to his alibi.

Whoa there bga1...You're not suggesting that the media want to sensationalize a story are you?

I remember clearly that the Clem academic fraud expose by the Pioneer Press was published on the very eve of the Gophers first round NCAA game vs. Gonzaga in 1999. The Pioneer Press stated they printed the story as soon as it was ready. And of course they bristled with indignation when anyone suggested it was timed to sell the maximum number of newspapers.

So be prepared... if there is any significant or "Block Buster" information either newspaper has it will be held and used when it will have maximum effect (or is it affect...I am very nervous that the spelling/grammar police on this board will negate my argument if I use effect incorrectly).

So if we go to the NITs - maybe the story will never be reported! There's an upside to mediocrity- nobody cares!

Good one.

With the recent history of the BB team I have a feeling there will be millions of twists and turns 2 this story. It would be nice to get some good news for a change.

How about any substantive news on this case? Not just a phone call to the prosecutors office or to Samms-- I'm talking about someone actually reading the publically available pleadings and reporting on what is actually going on with the case itself, without any filtering by the prosecutors office or Samms.

Five bucks says we get an update on Monday that is simply a story about how Samms or the prosecutor or someone at the court says the trial was pushed back--and no report from a reporter who actually attended the hearing. You would think they'd be able to have someone actually attend the hearing (a local reporter perhaps?). Maybe not.

There will be nothing that happens next week.. it'll be an updating of calendars. No reason to attend.

Not with the Star Tribune in the financial mess that their in.... Same for the PP. Hopefully there's someone that can (and cares to) blog about it...

loved it mnballer15, unknowingly brain dead spelling purists don't know that the history of the English language, or any language for that matter, is to mutate. Oh, by the way, text messaging is rapidly accelerating the mutation. I hope none of you are correcting the text from friends, or, I guess, none of you will be doing it for long.....

ha, i've seen him correct people at least 3 times in the last week of my periodic checking of these boards. people make mistakes..even the "teachers."
