The John Mackey Award has named Maxx Williams of Minnesota as the John Mackey Tight End of the Week for the second time this season. The talented sophomore had five catches for 46 yards and a career-high three touchdowns as Minnesota got a huge win over Iowa, 51-14. With the Golden Gophers up 14-7, Williams took over the game with touchdown catches of 9, 4 and 3 yards respectively. On the day Williams accounted for 33% of the Gophers' passing offense and 11% of their overall output. Minnesota Head Coach Jerry Kill said "I've never had a tight end make catches like sophomore Maxx Williams."

Go Gophers!!

Deserves recognition. One of the best TE's in the nation. We're lucky that he's on our team.

I want him to win the Mackey Award, win All American, and have his picture in the concourse catching that ball from last week!

Seriously, just give the kid the Mackey Award already.

He's the only te to win it twice, oleary has won once, and then a bunch of small school guys. He may be first team AA and Mackey.

I want to see him chop down the Badgers goal post with the Axe! :)
