He said he also had fun learning under St. Louis Park native Marc Trestman, the former Chicago Bears coach who is the Ravens offensive coordinator.

“Marc Trestman is a genius,” Williams said. “That’s the way I describe him. He’s really football-smart and really knows how to keep the team together on offense and runs our meetings well and teaches you a lot of things.”

As for Year 2 in Baltimore, Williams said, “I’m looking forward to my time back there and just trying to get as ready as I can before I go back.”

Go Gophers!!

Every single one of the Bears fans I know would vehemently disagree with Maxx.

Who cares what this joker says. Maxx was overrated. Mitch made him look better than he was. Discuss.....

Its his Offensive Coordinator, what else would you expect him to say? It could be a little bit over the top.

Up to the players to buy in the system. Look what happened to Yeo.

Well you have to remember his previous OC was limegrover

This, I'm from IL.

If you want to have a lot of fun, go to a Chicago Bears forum and start a thread called, "Why did the Bears Choose Trestman over Arians?". Guaranteed to be gold

I bet football fans in Montreal would disagree with Bears fans.

Trestman did very well at several of his jobs. Rich Gannon blossomed under Trestman winning the NFL MVP, with the Raiders leading the NFL in passing yards and total offense with Trestman serving as the OC. The Raiders made it to the Super Bowl. Bernie Kosar did well under Trestman, both in college where Miami won a Natl Title and Kosar broke school passing records and then again when he coached Kosar in the NFL. 49ers led the NFL in passing yards and points scored when Trestman was OC there. Jake Plummer blossomed under Trestman and the Cardinals made the playoffs for the first time in almost 2 decades.

How many coaches can claim that they were a part of the coaching staff that won a cfb Natl Title, won back to back CFL Grey Cup Titles, and got to a Super Bowl???

He was the QB coach/OC/Head Coach for QB Bernie Kosar, the MVP of the Orange Bowl(basically the Natl title game that year), QB Rich Gannon, the NFL MVP, and QB Anthony Calvillo, a two-time CFL MVP.

So he helped teams to Title games in cfb, the CFL and the NFL, 2 of the 3 winning Titles, and he helped QBs to garner MVP Awards in cfb, the CFL and the NFL.

does all of that success mean that he can't lose his touch? Bernie Bierman was arguably the greatest cfb coach pre-WW2. But he admitted that he struggled to coach post WW2 players. Their attitudes changed and they were tougher to coach.

So maybe Trestman, over time, has lost some of his genius touch? Or maybe its just harder to see it now? Maxx apparently sees something.

The word in NFL circles after Trestman first got hired by Chicago was that Trestman was an Offensive genius, but people were not sure he would make a good head coach.

A good question to ask is, have any of the QBs or offenses that thrived under Trestman, continued to thrive or maybe even done better since Trestman left those QBs or offenses? I mean, to make an objective analysis, wouldn't that be something to check into?
