I'm down in KC for the O'Reilly CBE Classic, which features Duke, Gonzaga, Marquette and Kansas State. I was hoping to go to the school of Max Shortell, a quarterback from Bishop Meige, but it was a little farther away then I thought, so I just called him. He said that he is still committed and plans to come for his official visit in December. He went to the USC game and has been watching the team on TV each week.

I will write a story about him when I get back.

Marquette plays Gonzaga tonight in the early game. I talked to Sam Dower for a bit. He seems to like Spokane. #1 Duke and #3 Kansas State play in the nightcap, which should be a good one. The tournament issues 43 credentials to NBA scouts, including the T-Wolves. Two first team preseason All-Americans in action with Kyle Singler and Jacob Pullen. Lots of media here as well in a great building (the Sprint Center).

They announced during the game last night that Central Missouri State and Rockhurst would be playing at 2:30 at the Sprint Center. I'm not sure what it says more about me, but I am the only media member (where the hell is Dickie V) to watch the Mules (love that nickname; the girl's team are called the Jennies) and the Hawks. UCM has Bryce Brunz, a senior guard from Mankaro West. Rockhurst has Najja Nicholson, a high school teammate of Ralp Sampson III.

I was tempted to spend the night at the Sprint Center. The media room here has a ping pong table and a Ms. Pacman machine. What more could you ask for.

That's good to hear Shortell is still committed.

Nice. Thanks Chris, I'm excited to hear Max has stuck to his commitment. GINGER QB'S FOREVER!!!!!

Hey Chris, when the games are over are you heading to the Power and Light District?

Unfortunately, I was hoping to drive home after the game. I have some stuff to do during the day and then want to make the Gopher game versus NDSU.

They have a nice variety of restaurants and bars around the Sprint Center.
