I admit to not having paid a lot of attention to Jacksonville State, aside from having heard the name. But I had assumed it was in Jacksonville, FL. Learn something new every day, I guess. Good luck to him.
 

Good for him, I was wondering what was happening with him.
 

There's a city or county named after Andrew Jackson in just about every state (especially in the South). I don't know if there are more Jacksonville's or Fayetteville's.

Anyway, outside of the geography lesson, I hope Shortell has a good career. Good kid. Big arm. Just didn't fit with what Kill's scheme on offense. Funny thing though. Word is that QB runs will be featured less in the offense going forward, which makes me wonder if Max's talents would have been helpful in the revised plans. At any rate, hope he does well. He stepped up in difficult times. Probably should have been red-shirted.

I'll have another team to root for over the next three years. I wish nothing but the best for Max and I appreciate the class in which he has conducted himself through this whole transfer, and throughout his whole career at Minnesota.

I wish Max would have stayed here. I bet he lights it up down there. He threw a pretty ball. Imagine our QB depth if he would have stayed.
 


Wish he would have stayed and been the man this year! The gophers changing there play book alittle this year would have been very nice for max ability.. has a big arm... I could see him have some great numbers very big loss for this team.

Max handled everything well. I think he could have been a good QB in Kills system but he probably saw the writing on the wall with Nelson.

Max handled his situation with dignity and respect for the U. He did not bad mouth the coaches, school, etc. I wish him all the best at Jacksonville State.
 

Jacksonville State is a pretty solid iAA program, I would not say that they are a top tier 1AA program though. Jack Crowe has done a really solid job. He was the coach at Arkansas in the very early 90s before getting fired. I believe Crowe is not longer at J-State but they have some talent there and Shortell should really do well in Alabama.
 

I am shocked that he did not go to KU to play for Jabba the Weis. He actually fits Weis's scheme much better than he would have fit in Kill's scheme.
