I hate to be critical of a kid, but...Every game starts the same. We play solid and take the lead, Mav enters and it is a train wreck. Why not have Welch play point during the short stints when Andre sits and use Chip as needed. I would love to know Mav's +/- the past 5 games. Is Welch's nagging injury preventing him from playing point?

I don't know about the welch situation, but I totally agree with your points on Mav. I think 90% of our turnovers in that first half came when he was on the floor.

Plus our offense stalls.

4 minutes today....yeeks. From starter to barely getting 4 minutes...

I mean, I think we have gotten one shot off in the 4:00 he was in the game. The stats show 2 TO, but I'd argue he had 2 or 3 passes that ultimately lead to turnovers by putting guys in terrible positions. Hate to bash the kid but he's just in way over his head out there.

He played for 4 minutes....we managed to score 0 points.
We trailed 1 time in the game....and we lost the lead when Maverick was in the game...once Maverick came out of the game we eventually got the lead back and never lost it again.

In that 4 minute stretch how many turnovers as a team did we have?
How many shot attempts did we have?

I cannot remember the exact shot attempts but I am fairly certain we as a team had at least 6 turnovers in the 4 minutes of Mav time. 2 were accredited to Mav. 2 more were directly Mav's fault by hanging guys out to dry with passes. 2 were late in the shot clock when we couldn't get into any kind of an offense.

He did do a couple of nice things defensively. Was 18-15 when he came in I think it was only like 21-18 when he came out.

I still can't believe Tubby started this kid early in Big Ten play. Tubby asks him to do things he simply isn't capable of.

Earlier in the year Mav showed tremendous progress. Now he just seems lost out there. My guess is that he reads this garbage since GH is free.

After a grind it out on the road performance with what seems like half the team out with injuries, you post something like this. I guess you can post what ever the heck you want to post. But if you hate to do it then don't.

mav struggles against quick, strong, and athletic guards...period.

Mav cannot guard a quick, strong, and athletic guard either.

No time is Mav time. He'd have trouble starting for half the teams in the NCC -- Winona, Mankato, Southwest all have better guard combos. Mav's just not a Big Ten caliber player. I hope he finds a level where he can play.

I think the exact line when Mav was in the game was like 4:35 of no shots and 5 turnovers...it took Chip (who has never seen a shot he did not like) to break that drought

Anytime someone says something and follows it with the word but it means that you meant it. But is a stronger word than if.

The issue with Mav is that physically he's not a high major player. He's not big, strong or quick and doesn't have a J that opponents have to fear so they just get in his face and he can't do anything about it. Then the offense stalls because we don't have many other places to initiate offense. I don't blame Mav, he just shouldn't be playing at this level
