- Temporary bleachers will be brought in.
- Suite rights held by Gopher holders for game. Still up in the air if they'd allow Vikings holders to use them.
- Board of Regents must decide on beer. (Maybe Gov. Pawlenty's last act will be to allow the U to decide on liquor for University events period:mad:)
- Snow has to be shoveled out of the seats then to the aisles and THEN down to the field to the dump trucks.

With the Vikings out of the playoff picture and looking terrible these days, I probably would normally only watch the game if I didn't have something better to do. The fact it will be at TCF, will make it very interesting and I will be tuned in on Monday. It will also be interesting to see TCF decked out with a 63K capacity with those temp seats. Fun fun fun.

Any word on what the U will be making off of this?

It might be a golden opportunity to give back the university their authority under the state constitution to establish their own alcohol policies.

Maturi also mentioned that the contract the U has with the "neighborhoods" says that events will only be held on weekends. Who is God's name came up with this contract?!?!? I'm sorry but if you live by one of the largest universities in the united states you're going to have noise, period.

Tell the neighbors to close their windows.........if they haven't figured that out already.

Maybe Poge can jump in and extort a couple $million off this deal too! Oh wait...he wouldn't be dealing with his cronies and the kid glove crew from the U of M!

Any word on whether all the regular parking, like the state fair parking, is being used for the game?

I see the Gophersports website still has a webcam link... I can't get it to come up though. Has this been non-operational for a while, or is it still up?

- Will cost U about $700,000.
- Parking will be interesting. Parking lots are already about "half sized" because of the snow.

So the U can never host a Thursday night ESPN game? I doubt that and if they negotiated it that way, they were foolish.

Well, this contract has been brought up by several media outlets (both national and regional) and I haven't heard any U pushback so I'm guessing it's true. The thing to keep in mind is that the Big Ten doesn't seem to want any of their teams playing Thursday night games so its really a moot point.

I don't think the Big 10 will ever allow conference games on Thursday night, but if we wanted to host USC for the season opener and did in Thursday to get ESPN to pick it up, I'd like to be able to do that.

Ah, gotcha...wasn't thinking about non-cons for some reason. Well, it sounds like a one time exemption can be negotiated when needed. Not sure how amenable the neighborhood groups would be when its not an emergency situation though.

The contract has some merrit in the Fall, when people want to be outside sleep with their window open, but in the dead of winter, I would hope homes would be insulated enough. The only person I can see complaining is Phyllis Kahn

This has got Phylis Kahn written all over it.

Ha. I still remember her great speech about how Montreal didn't miss the Expos so we should just let the Twins leave, because Montreal was such a great city and we could only hope to be like them. Oy.

If it wasn't for her, Station 19 would be a hole in the ground under a sweet basketball practice facility right now.

I'm pretty sure the building being on the National Register of Historic Places has a lot to do with that. (Unless she's the one that got it on the Register).

Not 1, not 2, but 3 B10 teams opened this past season on a Thursday night.

Did you read the part where I said conference games and then noted to howeda that I'm an idiot and ignored non-con games b/c I'm an idiot?

The U wanted to purchase it, and possibly move it, but with the "neighborhood" opposed, the U had to completely redo the streets to go around it which is why Oak St. has the big curve in it next to the plaza. The BBall practice facility will be going between station 19 and Williams - connecting the two buildings will save money because they can use existing locker rooms. If station 19 wasn't there, there would be more room to get the practice facility.

Of course I exaggerate that it would already be built- but the location would have been there.

I hope the neighbors take this to court and shut the entire thing down. The U should honor it's contract.

Agreed, if the U doesn't stand by its word/contract, than this will surely become another Hadley v Baxendale, and I know none of us want that!
