Maturi: "I believe" I'll make a decision on Mbakwe by Nov. 5

I have no problem with the November 5 decision date. That will have given Trevor plenty of time to mind his P's and Q's, a time to prove himself, so to speak. I get the feeling if Trevor does that, keeps his nose clean with the off-the-court stuff (academics, study hall, behavior, etc.), Maturi will give him the benefit of the doubt (until the trial verdict or dropping of all charges) and let him suit up & play.

Crossing my fingers the correct decision is made and the Gopher program doesn't end up on page 1 of ESPN College Basketball's home page for the wrong reasons. Really, what it all comes down to do is simple. Has Trevor been telling Tubby & Maturi the truth or has he yanked their chains for his own benefit? I hope it's the former.

Samms has requested financial assistance from the court so that Mbakwe can fly in four witnesses who he says will validate his alibi that he wasn't at home when the alleged assault occurred.
(my emphasis)

Please tell me this is Myron screwing up, and that Samms is not bringing in witnesses to testify Mbakwe wasn't home.

Um, considering the assualt took place outside his apartment building, I would think that an alibi that you were somewhere other then your apartment building at the time would be a good thing?

My interpretation:

To me "wasn't at home" means he wasn't in his own apartment. If you interpret it that way, the alibi doesn't really stack up because his witnesses can't vouch for exactly where he was at the time of the assault. They only know he wasn't in his apartment.

If by "wasn't at home" they meant he was out of state -- in Minnesota perhaps -- now that's a completely different deal.
