Per Matt:

In the town of Champaign, the Gophers came out flat and continued a downward trend that has now reached it’s third straight game. What we are left with now is the undeniable truth that this is an imperfect team with some glaring deficiencies. Players, coaches, and fans will now have two weeks to let the reality of what happened on Saturday sink in.

You can call what happened on Saturday a lack of luck. You can call it karma. You can call it paying the piper. But whatever you do, don’t call it unexpected. The warning signs were there, we just chose to ignore them.

Go Gophers!

Actually, I didn't think the team played that badly against Northwestern. I thought they played OK. What I thought after watching the game was that Northwestern was better than Michigan and not much different in quality than Minnesota. I thought that Northwestern was probably better than Minnesota offensively but worse defensively.

I thought we had a weak game against Northwestern, especially defensively in terms of stopping third and long, but not weak enough to get worked up over so long as we got the win (which we did).

I thought they had a very balanced and fairly effective offense and they were good enough to hold Cobb to less than 100 yards on 30 carries. Before they played us, they pounded Penn State at State College and beat Wisconsin. They're the only one of the bottom 10 teams in the conference to beat one of the top 4 teams so far. Did it ever occur to you that maybe we're just not better than Northwestern? Or do you just believe we are pre-ordained to be better than Northwestern year after year?
