"I can say right now it certainly wasn't planned, and I've never lived that celebration down, obviously," Lloyd said this week, more than a decade after his kick helped Minnesota claim the Axe. "I just remember when they called a timeout against me, I just felt very at ease. ... I went on the field and had a chat with coach (Glen) Mason. We just talked, and he just said, 'Don't forget the Axe after you hit the field goal.'

"I just kind of took off. I guess the rest is history, as you say."

Go Gophers!!

I was a freshman and at that game year. I can't believe how much that video makes me feel old. Just the graphics and video quality is unreal. I know it's been awhile since we've won but if you really consider how far TV quality has come in that time period it's remarkable.

Hopefully that is the sight we will be seeing again this Saturday!!:cheer::cheer:

My preference is a 4 touchdown win in which our d-backs are playing hangman on the sideline on the white boards and fail to realize the game is over (e.g. Florida State), and forget to join the rest of the team across the field to retrieve the axe.

Oops sorry, I should have been more specific as I don't think I could handle another nail biter LOL. I just want to see our team holding the axe when the game is said and done.

This is a big one. Wisconsin, Iowa, and Michigan are obviously the games I care most about, and we didn't exactly turn in our best showing for the other two. Getting the axe back would make this season pretty much perfect.

The weather on Saturday will be pretty similar to that game. I remember tailgating on Washington Ave and don't think we topped 25 degrees. It was nippy.
