Go Gophers!!

Jones has been pretty impressive with his two returns for TD's, and some good KO returns also, but he's cost the Gophers MAJOR yards of field position by NOT fielding a number of punts in the opening two weeks. Wow. Maybe he couldn't have fielded all of them but he's let a number of them go that have rolled for major yards in both games. Maybe he's not quite comfortable yet, maybe the staff has told him to err on the side of caution but he's gotta start running up and catching those punts on the fly. 10-20+ yards of field position a couple times a game will cost them a game in the B1G this year if that continues.

per ESPN:

Big Man on Campus (Special teams): Minnesota's Marcus Jones returned a punt 65 yards for a touchdown late in the first half to help break open the game against New Mexico State. It was sweet revenge for Jones, who got hammered after signaling for a fair catch earlier in the game. He now has scored on a kickoff return and a punt return in his first two games of the year.

I didn't see the game so I can't second your comment, but I've always been a strong believer in "catch the ball."

That said, Jones can make a lot of things happen in the return game. Great to see him doing well and congratulations are in order.
