per Marcus:

The bottom line: The Gophers have enough talent to make the NCAA tournament (for the first time in three years). But they seemingly don't have enough talent to finish above .500 in the Big Ten (for the first time under Smith) or win an NCAA tournament game (for the first time under Smith).

Which is a big disappointment, considering they entered the season with four players who have attracted interest to some degree from pro scouts.

Go Gophers!!

Very true....I do agree that it's Smith's job to get the talent in here. I honestly thought both Williams and Andre Hollins were better than they are...Hollins will be very good by the time he is a senior, but he isn't there yet.

great article but marcus failed to mention tubby smith's coaching as one of the problems. he always gets outcoached and his teams seem to regress during the season when eveyone else is getting better. I think tubby is decent at the defensive x's and o's but offensively he is pathetic. always the same vanila type of offense and the inbound plays are non-existent. just reak kentucky's petition to fire him which laid out in detail all of his flaws. these same flaws which turned kentucky into an ordinary team have turned the gophers into a perennial nit contenter. get smart here now please!"

They don't need me to tell them about horses, why would I need them to tell me about Gopher Basketball?

"They have no true low-post scorer."

This is just crap. That is the least of our problems. The problem is getting Trevor the ball in a good position. After catching the ball near the hoop without being double-teamed, there aren't many college bball players better at scoring or drawing a foul than Trevor. Obviously he's very physical and athletic, but a lot of people seem to ignore that he actually does have solid footwork in the post.
