We all know Sampson is better as a face up player and if could have spent all his time working on that part of his game...I think he would have had a much better offensive career. You look at who was supposed to be beside him over the years...the loss of Royce hurt, then Iverson runs and Moe gets hurt and this year Trevor got hurt...add in a lack of PG play in the last three years to feed him properly and you get a guy with limited offensive numbers and no real identity. You can see how much work he has put into his low post game and hook shot...but he still isn't comfortable in the low post...it isn't his style.
If he would have had a consistent C/PF that worked the low post so he could stay out high like he did his FR year...I think he would have had a chance to be a much better offensive player. I also think a couple years in Europe where big guys shoot from outside...and some actual strength training, and he could become a serviceable PF on a pick and roll NBA team. Just my opinion.
