Sure, the 6-foot-9, 230-pound King isn’t as athletic or effective defensively or on the boards as Minnesota’s recent forwards such as Rodney Williams or Trevor Mbakwe. But Pitino said the Eagan, Minn., native has an edge over Martin because of experience and his hard work.
“Josh has got a long way to go,” Pitino said. “He’s got the athleticism but he’s a freshman. And Josh understands that. I really like his potential but he’ll learn a lot from Joey. When we brought him, (the thought was) he’s the type of kid who will never lose that spot. He’ll just find a way to do it.”
