This blog from Marcus was published before the Maryland game:

What happened to those Gophers that were leading the nation with nearly 20 assists and ranked near the top with a dozen steals per game in nonconference play?

Second-year Minnesota coach Richard Pitino said he didn’t think those numbers would last once Big Ten play started.

Pitino was right in Wednesday’s 72-68 loss at Purdue with Minnesota recording just six steals and 15 assists with 13 turnovers. The inability to fluster the Boilermakers as they did smaller conference opponents was a big factor.

Go Gophers!!

Poor blog post. He is trolling for clicks.

Of course it can work. If it can work in other leagues it cam work in the Big Ten. It is all about having the players and the coaching.

The author should be ashamed.

Today they proved it can work - after what a 17 - 2 run by Maryland - with the pressure D they came right back. That should answer the Q for Marcus.

Not saying this style of D won't work in the B1G but not sure one 5 minute stretch in one game proves it will over the long haul.
