Marcus blog: Badgers passed on Ellenson but will he make them regret it at the U?

I don't see any reason he can't be better than a solid role player. He has all of the tools to be a good wing player for us. I'm guessing Bo passed on Wally because he has too much athleticism for his system.;)

I bet Bo would have been all over him if he wore this during games:

If Ryan had an available scholarship and still didn't want him, it would be because he doesn't think he's skilled enough.

Kid has some serious hops. In the video, pause it at the 1:29 mark. His head is right at the rim.

Hopefully he can do some other things besides dunking.

He's just some kid from Rice Lake. He'll never be any good.

He probably can't shoot well enough. Bo likes kids with reliable jump shots. Tubby, not so much

I think you are right on, I have to think he is slotted for SF with the gophers, Bo wants 5 guys that can shoot the three, not as concerned with athleticism as Tubby.

Flat top can't shoot to save his life and he starts.

not as much as the gophers miss kids from mn. that tubby did not want

UW does have a scholarship open for 2012. Sam Dekker and Zak Showalter signed this past fall, but Zak will be a walk-on. That means there is still one opening in the 2012 class, but the staff decided for whatever reason to not pursue Wally. Dekker is probably the biggest reason, as he will be UW's SF in the coming years. I am hoping he starts next year, but we'll see if Bo is willing to sit down a senior (Bruesewitz) in favor of a freshman. That, of course, assumes that Dekker lives up to the hype.
