Go Gophers!!

Great news. Would have been tough news to take if it were the other way around. Excited to see how good he really is.

Marcus blog:

The 6-foot-11, 230-pound Mali native won’t have any issues now being cleared by the NCAA after receiving a qualifying score Wednesday, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

Konate, who spent this past season on the Sunrise Christian Academy (Kan.) post-graduate team, is expected to arrive in Minnesota between mid-July or early August. He hasn’t been on campus since making an official visit on February 18.

Although he has an impressive outside shot for a 7-footer, Konate’s most impressive skill is his shot blocking.

I'm not sure if Bakary will redshirt or not, but it would be nice to have him as an option off the bench next season. Even with Eliason and Walker on roster, we all know how they often get into foul trouble. Sounds like Bakary could be an asset right away as a rim protector if called upon.

I'm sure at least one of Konate and Diedhou will play. With Lofton already on redshirt, I don't see us wanting to start the season with only 10 available players on scholarship.

My pronounciation of his name may be off because I don't think he's asian... but this is how I'm saying it Koh-Nah-Teh

and when he blocks shots I will be yelling...

KOH-NOT TODAY while waving my finger at the TV.... My wife will love it.

POLLYANNA!

I can get on board with this.

I have a feeling neither Konate or Diedhiou will redshirt, just because they are both 20 already. It will be nice to have some extra big bodies for when Mo and EE inevitably get in foul trouble.

Also, I fully endorse KOH-NOT TODAY as his nickname.

POLLYANNA!

This is good news. I wonder if we can get two favorable decisions in a row from the NCAA random decision generator? (Jeff Jones).

Pure genius. I third it.

Um. The NCAA isn't making a decision. Konate earned his admission. It wasn't given to him based on a random decision. Jeff Jones hasn't earned anything.

Especially if you can say it in the Dikembe Mutumbo voice.

I had kind of envisioned the "KOH" read in a calm "Stuart Smalley" voice followed by the "NOT TODAY" in like an early Sam Kinison.

I've been saying it like the soup nazi or an angry Japanese man.

That's the beauty of it, you all can make it your own.
