In 2 years as HC of the Montreal Allouettes, he lost the Grey Cup game in 2008 and won it in 2009. This is only noteworthy because there was (and is) a ton of big time alumni support to make this guy HC at the U.

After being forced to sing that gawd awful song in grade school you'd think i'd have figured out just what an allouettes is. It seems a little girly.

Are you simple? It is a delicious cheese-like spread thing you put on Triscuits.

I feel for Saskatchewan Gopher...I don't even think the Gophs could lose in as devestating of a way as the Roughriders did.

Go Gophers!!

It was very much Gopher type loss. 16 up with seven minutes to go and then too many men on the first field goal attempt. As a Bomber fan, I really enjoyed it.

My pick for CFL coach to be Gopher coach is former Sask coach Kent Austin, now OC at Missississippi.

PS Sask is the Iowa of the CFL.

Seriously? We're talking about the CFL? Seriously? And the Frog-Canuck version of it?

Marc Trestman...Sansevere and Shooter's favorite Gopher HC candidate.

Well, Trestman or any other coach with CFL ties would probably feel at home with Jed Fisch's offensive set, as it always seemed that there would be more than one back moving at a time. Trouble is, that's a penalty south of the Northwest Angle.

That is funny, maybe we become a pipeline to the CFL.

I bet anyone on here 1000.00 that if Trestman came here for 3 years that his offense would be a LOT better than
what we have right now!!!!

Kind of a sucker bet though - I think almost anyone else would, too.

When I was a kid long ago in a galaxy far away, WTCN (now KARE 11) was the independent station in town and they used to have a Canadian football game of the week. Loved watching it. It was the spread before there was a spread. Guys running all around the backfield in motion. I thought it was way cool.

I prefer the CFL most of the time. For some reasons, big games are almost always exciting. I always get a kick about the passion the American guys bring. They are playing for peanuts (after playing big time NCAA football and not making the NFL) yet they are so into it. I always found it funny that when the Jets were still in Winnipeg you couldn't get close to them but the CFL guys were willing to talk football all night long.

Well played American football is on par excitement wise but when American football bogs down it gets unwatchable (witness recent Gopher games).

Studwell you are just jealous because you know that if you were a Canadian kid, you would have had a chance to be a CFL special teams player.

Just kidding- kind of.

Thanks Bleed. Although I am a transplant from MN, I do cheer for my Roughriders, especially over the Winnipeg Jets in the Banjo Bowl (inside joke I suspect for most, but not WinnipegGopher).

It was incredible in that loss, and I don't think it was as bad as the gophs this year. I don't think the gophs lost any games on that kind of play. The 2 interceptions by Durant didn't help and of course the missed field goal in the 1st half didn't help either... (got my dots in).

With that being said, I was happy for Trestman.

Go Riders!
Go Gophers!
