Being a Texas fan, I hate everything that has to do with Oklahoma. Well, I did until Adrian Peterson came along. Even though he spurned Texas, he was so good that it was hard not to like him as a player. I often think about how insane Texas would have been if Peterson was added to the backfield at Texas while Vince Young and Cedric Benson were there.

Anyways, I figured since there are no doubt a bunch of Vikings fans on this board, I wanted to ask if y'all see the same thing I see in Malcolm Brown. He might be a tad slower than Peterson, but everything else looks very similar. I haven't been this excited about a RB recruit since Peterson, and if he doesn't go to Texas, it'll suck just as much.

Thoughts? Does anyone else see the similarities?

I think it's almost a foregone conclusion that he'll be the top back in the nation for the 2011 class.

The real question is, will he live up to the nickname "Fumbles 2.0?"

If Peterson doesn't cure hibs fumbling problems, it's going to shorten his career. Right now, his positives outweigh his fumbling problem.

He will be incredible! By the way, did anyone else notice that about 40 seconds into to his highlight video that he was playing on "Jim Wacker Field"

I think Aaron Green is better by watching his film

I'm a big Aaron Green fan as well. This is probably the best year for RBs in the state of Texas in a while. In a perfect world we'd land both Brown and Green, but just getting one of the two would be excellent.

About the Brown film, he does get great blocking from his team. And both Brown and Green play against talent that might not be as tough as the Dallas and Houston areas, but their talents are undeniable.

Green looks to be more explosive. His cuts and acceleration are something special, but I think Brown is a little more balanced overall.

I can see the similarities, but doesn't run quite like Peterson. He doesn't run as high as AD does (which isn't a bad thing) and doesn't have quite the same stride and acceleration. Reminds me more of Jonathan Stewart clips than Peterson IMO.

When u say if we land both of them do u mean they're interested in MN?

Sorry about the confusion GG07. I'm a Texas graduate, but also a fan of Minnesota. I really hope Brewster can turn things around for Minnesota. If he can get a few more wins than losses next season and hold onto Calvin Phillips, I think there's reason to be optimistic as a Gopher fan.

As far as Brown and Green go, I don't think either has any interest in Minnesota. Although, it being such a stacked year at RB in Texas, it wouldn't hurt Brewster to take a long look down here for some more RB talent. Rivals already shows Kenny Williams of Pflugerville as having interest in Minnesota, as well as Darren Ervin of Lamar. I haven't seen either play yet, but I've heard Kenny Williams is pretty good and right now SMU is the only school that's offered. He would be a pretty good insurance policy if things didn't work out with Phillips. Ervin is supposedly going to visit Cal this weekend, and might pull the trigger if offered. Still, there are a LOT of good RBs in Texas for the 2011 class.

My apologies about the random thread. Just thought some of the Vikings fans on the board could comment about any similarities between Brown and Peterson.

Geezo beezo, I didn't notice the field he was playing on. Now that I know it my heart is pumpin' and my corpuscles are jumpin'! You know Jim Wacker was really a genuinely nice guy. I wish he'd done better here. Sorry to get off track.

I don't think Ervin played much at the RB position last season. Williams is an absolute beast, great size and speed, I think Brewster would be wise to offer him asap. He looks like he is in the same league as Brown and Green in my opinion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYZuUn6UUQU

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Ervin was a QB last year and the plan is to have him be a RB next season, since his collegiate future is likely as a RB. Maybe slot reciever.

Kenny Williams is certainly gifted. He's in conversation for one of the top RBs in the state. As is Brandon Williams, Herschel Sims, Daniel Lasco, LaFredrick Ford, and many others. KC Nlemchi, Tevin Williams, and Leroy Dobbins are no slouches either. Although Dobbins may be too small to be a big time RB at the next level, he's electric. And the list just goes on and on. It's really something.

Even Quandre Diggs, who most think is a DB at the next level could be an excellent RB. He left Texas' 2nd Junior Day without an offer, and I think it sucks. He's even a legacy of sorts. Quentin Jammer's brother. I think he's a bigtime college player waiting to happen, but apparently Texas is already too short on scholarships to offer.

I can't remember a class with this much depth at the RB position. It's borderline insanity.
