Just speculation at this point, but chatter has increased on the web about something big coming down at UT.

Reading now that the rumor is a whole bunch of coaches (across multiple sports - potentially including Rick Barnes and school president Bill Powers) were having relations with students and the AD covered it up. A women's track coach was fired in January for a relationship but apparently it might be much more widespread.

If Barnes or Brown were involved and if the AD covered it up, this will get very ugly and a respectable University would clean house.

Go Gophers!!

from reading those tweets, my guess is...........they hired brewster for head football coach.

This was my first reaction as well, I thought we might see an instagram photo of Brew hanging out the side of a helicopter above DKR Stadium

Sounds like a lot of hanky panky going on under the AD's watch. Cover-ups and naughty things going on with coaches and students! Gasp! Stay tuned!:clap::cool:

Haha! Nice! Too funny!

the tip we learned from WI is that there is nothing wrong with coeds and coaches mixing it up. in fact, promotions for some to the most powerful positions the school offers.

I'd think that they would want to bring in a veteran basketball coach, probably from a big conference, to clean things up for 3-4 years. He'd have to be a respected guy with a reputation for doing things the right way. Maybe somebody with a national championship on his resume. You'd have to steal a guy like that from someplace though, they aren't out looking for work. Just sayin'

If the worst thing that happened was consensual sex between adults and younger adults, especially if the students were not players for teams the coaches were coaching for, I don't really care.

Also, got some big chuckles out of the Brewster helicopter jokes.

Forget it. Guys like that aren't available. Too valuable.

Just what I have been dreaming about.

This will all get swept under the rug and forgotten about by St. Patrick's Day. Arrests, scandals, and misdeeds happen perennially on the 40 Acres, yet nothing ever comes of them. The University of Texas-Austin is well-funded and well-connected enough to pay everyone off and keep their mouths shut. They have a great spin machine, plus they are in bed with ESPN, so it is not in the best interests of the Worldwide Leader in Sports to air too many negative things about the Sips.

What ever happened with Case McCoy and Jordan Hicks getting sent home from the Alamo Bowl for taking advantage of a girl in San Antonio after curfew (where Case allegedly watched his teammate rail a drunken chick)?

What happened with Mack Brown's right hand man, ol' freak nasty Cleve Bryant, taking recruits to strip clubs, using the football hostesses as prostitutes, and coming on to students and staff members?

Who even batted an eye when Ope (Major Applewhite) cheated on his wife with a rather plain looking undergrad?

The Sips want to laugh it up about Johnny Manziel getting in a bar fight, but what about Alex Okafor and Kenny Vaccaro getting arrested? Connor Brewer getting busted for MIP? Does anyone remember the 2007 season where they suspended 7 players for criminal activity? Five players thrown in jail in 2010? Cederick Benson getting busted? Ricky William's pot problems? No one seems to remember most of this stuff, when, in reality, they should have a Miami-like reputation.

No, I've lived in Texas for far too long to know how this will go. College athletics is too big here to be taken down by scandals, and the Sips have more money than anyone else to make sure things stay relatively quiet. Nothing to see here, move along.

EDIT to add that the same goes for most DI schools in Texas. We just haven't had the level of scandal - a coach selling an insider newsletter who we ran out of town and a player holding hostages at gunpoint over a drug deal who got kicked off the team. Baylor has a player who broke his girlfriend's jaw, players who pass out in the Taco Bell drive thru while stoned, and even a murder and cover-up. Only poor Texas Tech falls behind in damage control because they're, well, Texas Tech.

Aggie, you are the guy I have been waiting to hear from on this. Thank you.

Don't get me wrong, though. There are few things I would like more than to see this thing blow up and take DeLoss Dodds and everyone else in Belmont down. Except Mack Brown. He can stay.

If you have any interest in college hockey, I'm guessing that you'd really like SCSU.
