Makes perfect sense.

Some number of Big Ten programs pay top dollar for “guaranteed” home game victories over MAC programs, each year.

Until/unless P5 confs go to an all P5 scheduke, to maximize TV dollars, the Big Ten needs those programs to stay afloat.

That doesn’t mean paying them the same as if the game took place. That likely means paying negotiated buyouts.
So it depends on the contract.

Sounds like Ohio State is going to pay almost in full if the MAC can’t reschedule the games
