I had looked at this briefly.. and thought I saw 10 Big Ten teams in Lunardi's top 72. C'mon now...
 

Question, do you consider it a "tourney appearance" if you need a play-in game and lose it? I am not talking a technical definition, just how you personally view it. I personally don't consider it an appearance if you don't get to the round of 64.
 

Absolutely it's a tournament appearance. We don't get to pick & choose what's considered a tourney appearance. Given a choice I'm sure every at-large candidate would prefer to avoid the First Four, but I'm pretty sure they'd rather play in that (ask VCU) than the first round of the NIT.
