Lu'Cye Patterson reveals NIL situation with the Gophers from last season

Between the "You knows" and the interviewer having trouble efficiently setting up, then asking a direct question, this interview went about 5 to 10 minutes longer than it needed to. I give L.P. a bit of a pass because he's not a professional, but the interviewer doesn't need to ramble like that.

Believe me, I've interviewed hundreds of people and when you ramble like that, it becomes difficult for the person you're interviewing to keep their concentration and figure out what you're actually asking. It's a matter of focus, knowing what questions you want to ask and being conversational. This is why I have trouble hanging on for the entire segments of this type of platform. Same with podcasts. Just write it down, edit it down and present it as an article. This guy is probably a great writer, but free form, visual and live conversational interviews don't seem to be his thing.

Amen! It's so much quicker to read a transcript than to watch a video or listen to a podcast and, as you mention, preparing a transcript promotes editing. Of course, preparing a transcript takes more time for the interviewer so I guess that's part of why we don't see them very often.

Transcripts take just a few minutes now with software. It's easier than ever.

I didn't watch the video but there was an article posted today where Lu'Cye said that they were invited to participate in the College Basketball Crown tournament but the administration refused the invitation around the same time that they fired Ben Johnson. I wondered whether they ever received an invitation to the tournament.

I don't think the administration made the wrong decision. There were Big Ten teams more deserving of going to that consolation tournament than the Gophers who also opted out. Plus, watching that team at the end of the season was a joyless experience. They were sitting at 14-12 after that West Coast trip in February and had a chance to salvage some respectability for the season but they proceeded to go 1-5 in their last six games and extinguished all hope.
