Has anyone ever been to an LSU game before?

I will be at the Bama/LSU game saturday and I was wondering if anyone knew about any of the pregame festivities that go on or have any suggestions?

Did you know that Madison might be the best college game day experience on the planet? It is so amazing how people dress in red and white and drink beer. HAVE YOU NEVER JUMPED AROUND?

They have already started. Take lots of booze.

I was at the LSU v Florida game a couple weeks back and ended up tailgating with some LSU fans. They said everyone is very inviting and it's real easy to approach most tailgating groups. The RV lots are the biggest in the country and from the sounds of it get pretty nuts with food and drink starting on Friday. They apparently line up for the prime parking spots on Thursday and sometimes even Wednesday night.

I haven't been to Baton but the guys I met in Gainesville, fed me, gave me more booze than I needed and showed me a good time. I'd suggest the RV lots at least to check out.

GopherGrad, have you been to Camp Randall? It might be the best Game Day. There is never an empty seat in the stadium.
Oh? you saw the MSU pic from last week that displayed empty seats? oic.

I went to an LSU game last season - the tailgating is unlike anything I've experienced in the Big Ten. Pregame festivities consist of booze, food, booze and food. There are elaborate tailgates and makeshift ones, but they know how to get ready for a game. If you don't already have a place set up to tailgate, just bring some drinks, walk around campus and engage in conversation - people are accommodating, especially if they know it's your first visit, and you'll probably end up trying some kind of dish you've never had before.

The one pregame event I can recommend is checking out the LSU band run down Victory Hill on their way into the stadium:

Went to an LSU-Bama game seven or eight years ago. We didn't really know where to go, but it didn't matter. Every piece of open area around the stadium is fair game. We picked up a case of beer, found a patch of grass and hunkered down. Caught some of the early games on multiple mobile satellite dishes around us.

Also, in case you're driving: it doesn't matter where you park. Once we got down there we were told you can ignore the "no parking" signs on game day. Don't know for sure if that's true, but we and hundreds of others parked along the street where we were made it through the day without parking tickets.

It is apparent that you have not parked your car at the Nielsen Nat down by the University hospital and then made the 1.84 mile walk to Camp Randall. Did I mention on any October/Nov day it maybe 35 degrees and a 30 percent chance of rain. you have not tailgated.

Download Clay Travis' book, Dixieland Delight on your e-reader. Read the LSU Chapter. That will give you insight on what you're heading into.
Also, if you wouldn't mind............upon your return, you will have to validate or invalidate whether or not if "LSU fans smell like Corn Dogs".

an SEC home game should be on everyone's bucket list.

I would expect to be tea-bagged at a Krystal if you're going to an LSU/Alabama game. (To those unfamiliar, Krystal is the south's version of White Castle).

Not being an SEC fan I made the mistake of asking an LSU fan what the deal with corndogs is.

He did not take it kindly.

Every Saturday Brent Musberger tells me where the greatest college game day is located. oddly, it is where ever Brent is looking live.
