Quite a few TCU fans have been posting here the last few weeks, and obviously even more this week. They've all been very friendly, insightful and a great addition to the conversation here. Looking forward to meeting more at the game this weekend.

Agreed, their insight and analysis has really helped this hockey fan understand an opponent I haven't seen very much of. They are definitely much cooler than the Bison and Badger trolls (and of course P#$%^@hawk). After we give them the beat down tomorrow, I hope the Frogs tear up the Big 12 (especially the Longhorns, whose JD and MBA program both rejected me very quickly). Should be a fun game, and win or lose, I hope some of these guys come back to the Hole when we play them next year (if any of you guys are actually making the trip up here, shoot me a private message if you are looking for a tailgate to join up with).

Definitely coming up next year. Somehow Minnesota is the only state we missed in the family truckster growing up. Good luck with the beat down, but if that doesn't work out for you, please be sure to remind your team proctologist that we'd like out boots back sometime next week. :D

He posts here.

Agree. I think I am the only gopher spending time posting on the Frog Horn this week, but those guys are very welcoming, helpful with travel planning, and I might even take them up on their invite to their tailgate (especially since they have posted pictures of their food prep). I think these two schools are so evenly matched it will be a friendly fun weekend. Can't wait to hop on the plane and get over there. Here's to a great weekend!

Good folks over at The Frog Horn. I saw Newbomb's pork butt prep. By all accounts, that dude can Q.

I concur what others have posted about TCU fans. A refreshing change of pace from the SIN-BAD and hog-eye trolls. I'm looking forward to meeting y'all in person this weekend.

Ski-U-Mah and Go Gophers!

I love that you were able to incorporate a "y'all" and a "Ski-U-Mah" in the same post! LOL :)

TCU commentors, TexasAggie, richmondinsider all have added great entertainment to GopherHole.

Just saw some of the Minnesota fans running around Deep Ellum getting ready to check out the new Pecan Lodge. So you all clearly make good choices! Glad to see people making that long trip!! Here's to a good game

I find their optimism after 3 progressively worse seasons disconcerting. Shouldn’t they be calling for Patterson’s head? Don’t they realize that giving up 14 points to Samford surely spells the downfall of their strong defense? And where’s the clamoring for the backup QB who’s clearly a better option than the starter? This is all so confusing to me.

Backup QB threw a pick 6 in the 4th against Samford. Kinda answers both of your questions.

In absolutely no way do we feel it is time to call for GP's head. He has managed to take a team that lost 22 players one off season, a starting QB two seasons straight, and lose his offensive staff and still produce. That would make about as much sense as arguing with my lady about how her pants look.

See what I mean? They've gone 6-12 in the Big 12. What's with this even-keel reasoning?! Don't they know that with this sort of fan complacency, they'll never make it back to a major bowl?

Hell, they've beaten Wisconsin more recently than we have......

This is not an entirely invalid point. I wouldn't call it complacency, I'd call it confidence in the man.

Coach P is legitimately good. He is 121-44 at TCU, has 6 conference championships, and been in 12 bowl games. There are not many coaches anywhere that can bring a better deal to the table. So yea, he has earned a long long leash. He's the bus driver, and we are going wherever he is driving lol.

Hahaha. Gary Patterson is a "god" to TCU fans (see the 90s to 2011 transformation). I guess the last 3 seasons have in fact been progressively worse. But the starting point is from 13-0 to 11-2 in a "rebuilding" year---and one dumb loss away from a third consecutive BCS bowl. That year we lost the opener by one score in a shootout against Heisman winner RG3, were the first team in ages to beat Boise State in Boise, and lost a miserable upset at home to SMU. Most people were fine with 11-2, though there were lots of "what would've been" quiet rumblings about losing to SMU (would've been the Sugar Bowl following Rose and Fiesta years). 2012 was the transition year from the MWC to Big 12, and would've been fine had we not lost to Michigan State in the bowl game (would've made it an 8-win season in our first year in the Big 12, but instead we went 7-6). Our starting QB got arrested and kicked out to rehab mid-season and our starter became a RS FR (who is now our Jr. starter). Then, 2013 was of course just tremendously miserable. Gary Patterson gets at least one pass after transforming an afterthought like TCU into a P5 team, though. I think our fan base will likely accept an 8-win season this year without too much grumbling. Anything more and expectations will be for 10+ wins and a conference title run next year--putting a lot more pressure on our trip up to Minnesota.

Thanks for being hospitable 'round here. If y'all have Fort Worth/TCU questions, I'm happy to answer what I can. Looking forward to visiting Minnesota next year (will come back for travel advice)! Good luck this weekend and all season. Welcome and enjoy the unbelievably comfortable weather and friendly folks in Cowtown this weekend!

Yep, you're right. They could learn a lot from the GopherHole. They probably have read the story of chicken little. The real test will be if we beat them tomorrow, will their blog site have a meltdown.

You can rest assured some folks at KillerFrogs.com will have a meltdown unless TCU wins by 50. Fairly or unfairly, there seems to be a general consensus that a loss to Minnesota signifies only a 5, 6 or 7-win season; a close win signifies a sure bowl team; and a big win raises expectations to a 8-9+ win season.

It's funny how fans can make those assumptions from one game isn't it? After the Iowa and Michigan games last year you would have found plenty of Gopher fans predicting an 0-8 conference record. As it turns out, we went 4-4 including wins over Nebraska and Penn State. This game will be a good test for both teams but in no way will define their seasons.

There will be a start Matt Joekel thread even if Boykin somehow wins so convincingly they give him the Heisman on the spot.

Sorry I couldn't make the trip. I am hoping for an injury free(relatively) game and that my Gophers play well. Anything else like a win will have me dancing. ;-)

I'd like to know how TCU fans(Those that remember him) feel about the late Jim Wacker.

Thanks to all Horned Frog fans, and Go Gophers!
