We know about the injury problems the Gophers are dealing with, looks like the Fighting Illini have there troubles too.

CHAMPAIGN — Ke’Shawn Vaughn headed off the Memorial Stadium turf after Wednesday evening’s practice ended and into the Illinois locker room wearing a red jersey.
The Illini’s leading rusher did not practice for the second straight day after suffering a concussion this past Saturday and missing the second half of the Illini’s 28-3 loss against Ohio State.
And it doesn’t look like the true freshman — who has compiled 661 rushing yards on 145 carries and a team-high six rushing touchdowns — will play this Saturday at Minnesota.
“I think it will be a real long shot,” Illinois interim coach Bill Cubit said Wednesday.
Cubit said barring a drastic improvement by Vaughn before Thursday’s practice, the final one for the Illini before they travel Friday afternoon to Minneapolis, he doesn’t anticipate Vaughn making the trip north, either.
“Right now, he’s not going to travel,” Cubit said. “I don’t expect that to change.”
Vaughn started three games this season for Illinois when Josh Ferguson missed nearly the entire month of October with a sprained AC joint in his right shoulder.
Ferguson came back for the Illini’s 48-14 win at Purdue on Nov. 7, but Vaughn’s 180 rushing yards against the Boilermakers almost overshadowed Ferguson’s 133 rushing yards in his return.
Vaughn ran off to the side during Monday’s practice, but started experiencing concussion-like symptoms while running.
“As soon as that happened, we shut him down,” Cubit said. “Now you just pull back.”
Ferguson — who has 563 rushing yards on 95 carries and three TDs despite playing in only seven games this season — will get the start against the Golden Gophers, but Vaughn’s likely absence may mean more carries for Henry Enyenihi.
The third-string running back has missed the last two games with a leg injury. While Enyenihi was limited in Wednesday’s practice, Cubit said he could play against Minnesota.
“I think we’ll be able to take him on the trip,” Cubit said, “and I think he’ll be able to help us out a little.”
Few experienced options exist behind Ferguson — Enyenihi has 56 rushing yards on 19 carries in six games this season — but Cameron Tucker and Kendrick Foster received reps on Wednesday. So did cornerback/kick returner V’Angleo Bentley...
