Look for USF to become a player in the American

Your post got me curious about Cal's coaching tree-pretty inauspicious. With help from Wikipedia, here is the list:

Tony Barbee: UTEP (2006-10); Auburn (2010-14)
Bruiser Flint: UMass (1996-01); Drexel (2001-current)
Derek Kellogg: UMass (2008-current)
Chuck Martin: Marist (2008-13)
Josh Pastner: Memphis (2009-current)
Steve Roccaforte: Lamar (2006-11)

By my calculations, that is 47 coaching years, 9 NCAA appearances, and 2 NCAA wins (both by Pastner, who a strong argument can be made is more of a Lute Olson protege than Calipari). None of the above coaches seem to be on extremely solid footing either; Pastner's era at Memphis has been "spotty non-conference, dominant conference against weak competition, bow out early in NCAA's", while Kellogg made the tourney this year, his squads have settled into the middle of the A-10 as a peak, and Bruiser Flint keeps on doing what Bruiser Flint does as a head coach.
