Home sick and decided to watch the game again on DVR. Ran a lot of plays over in slow motion. It was truly a game of inches on a lot of plays. The Michigan State receivers didn't help out their team as they were in position to make plays and didn't. Quite a few out - of - bounds plays went the Gophers way by an inch.

Watched the Tow-Arnett's plays in slow motion. We definitely got a break on the fumble that was called an incomplete pass. The replay clearly shows he had the ball under control. On the Immaculate Reception II I believe the refs got that one correct. In slow-mo it shows the ball coming out of the opposite arm, crossing the chest and bouncing off the arm that is on the ground right up to our guy who runs for a touchdown.

I've watched the Gophers for many years and have seen bad break after bad break go against us. So it is nice to finally see some close calls and breaks go our way.

I know there are too many examples to count, and better Gopher teams that got a shorter end of the stick... but for some reason there is a semi-recent one that really sticks with me...

That pass interference call that cost them the OT game against Penn State in '06.

I have been around sports my whole life and realistically I know that there may have been several calls in that very game that went the Gophers way that allowed them to get into overtime. Maybe, maybe not. But, for some reason that one really sticks with me and every time I see a stat on Penn State vs MN I always place my own internal asterisk on the series win total.

Anyway, I agree that it was nice to watch a game where the crazy bounces of the ball went in Gopher favor. How many of us wouldn't have been surprised if it was MSU that had produced the immaculate reception? As soon as the extra point went through the uprights on that one, I turned to my brother and said "that is the kind of play we have all expected to go against the Gophers, over the years."

Agreed, if MSU had gotten the immaculate deflection, we would have been saying "Oh, no, not again..." It's about time that we benefitted from one of the freak plays for a change. But it wasn't just the freak play, it was a great heads-up play to be able to take advantage of it. Our guy was ready to snag it, you can't underestimate that.

Murphy's law

I guess that is my point ... There is a picture of the Gophers by the definition of Murphy's Law. I too would not have been surprised if the Immaculate Reception would have gone the other way. So for once the football Gods were in favor of us.

LOL, that is so true. I have another comment I'd like to make but I'm waiting until after the SDSU game so as not to jinx the gophers.

I second that. I also give assists to the crowd and coach Brewster. You could see he was chewing the refs out big time.

Gophs 2009 season has had some of the most awesome happenstance ball bounces of any one season. AF game, WI game and now the MSU game. I think they have had some awesome bounces.

If the game had been played at the Dome....

...I am 100% convinced that those breaks would have gone against us.

I'm not a superstitious guy, but over the years at the Dome one would have
to have their head in the sand to not be at least perplexed at how defeat had
been snatched from victory in that building. Any thinking person, after about 10
or 12 years, would have to conclude that there was something very creepy about
the Gophers playing in there.

What Gopher fans are now seeing is a true home-field advantage. Its interesting
to read the reactions of several on this board in amazement at how the bounces go
our way at TCF. Welcome to the rest of the world! LOL
