Feel bad for #Gophers TE Brandon Lingen, who was poised to have a nice yr. Just injury after injury. Latest one - foot - doesn't sound good.

Said Lingen is in a boot or a cast on his Scoops podcast. To bad for Lingen, he seemed like he was set up for a good year.

If he's interested in sticking around an extra year, maybe this will end up being a medical redshirt year. Hope he fully recovers and can pick up where he left off.

He's played too much to be eligible for a medical waiver I believe.
 

Woz is off to a rough first half of the year, but I think he's better than he's shown. I have confidence he'll step it up.
 

This hurts a lot. How did the team get so thin at TE? Wozniak really struggles in run blocking too.

Not yet, appeared in 3 games, if he plays another including the bowl game that'd be over the states threshold. Though of course the ncaa does play fast and loose with its own rules.
 



Is Nick Hart playing at all? I see there are a few freshman tight ends on the roster too.

I think you can't play after the halfway point of the season too to be eligible. He played in Game 7 of 12 games.
 



Wozniak might have more catches if "someone" could put the ball anywhere near his #'s. Most are near his knees....

Wozniak appears to not be able to catch or block. Not good as a TE.

I disagree. He occasionally catches the one handed ball while off balanced and back pedaling in triple coverage. Anything thrown out in the flat near his numbers while he is wide open is guaranteed to be dropped.

This is absolutely correct. It is very unfortunate how this played out. However, if he has a good year next year, I think he would likely come out for the draft anyway considering he has learned that health is a questionable proposition in football.
 

When my dad would take me to McDonalds after my youth baseball games, we'd talk about the game and he would describe the kids who were awful as, "struggling." Wozniak seems to be struggling right now.

Is that kid Witham any good or close to seeing the field?

More proof that folks will see what they want to. So the problem with Woz is ML7? Are there any problems on the team that aren't ML7's fault?

Not sure your watching the same games. We are talking about the Wozniak that plays for the gophers. There was a game not that long ago where he dropped two consecutive passes that were near his #'s. I thought for sure that would be the last we would see of him as a target, but we either don't have better options or he shows greater ability in practice than we see in games. It's not the kids fault that he isn't Maxx Williams. How his skill set gets used in the games is the result of decision making of the coaches, and to some extent Mitch when he chooses him as a target among options. I'm sure they would all like to see Lingen get those targets, but if he isn't available what do you do.
