per the LJS:

Greg McMullen smiled and laughed when asked if he’d seen a certain quote from a Minnesota football player.

“The guard?” McMullen said. “Yeah. I woke up to it, unfortunately.”

McMullen, a junior defensive end, wasn’t the only player from Nebraska’s defense who saw what Minnesota left guard Jon Christenson said about the Huskers’ interior defensive line.

Really good group, Christenson said.

But he didn’t stop there.

“The nice thing is, we’ve actually gone against them the last two years and pushed them all over the place,” Christenson said in Saturday’s Minneapolis Star-Tribune. “That definitely gives us a lot of confidence going in.”

And it provided bulletin board fodder to the Blackshirts who saw it.

“You can’t change what happened last year or the year before, but you’ve got to be mindful of what you say, because it’s a very humbling sport,” McMullen said. “If I’m not mistaken, it was 64, 65 yards today. You know, it is what it is.”

Vincent Valentine said somebody added him on Twitter on Saturday morning and shared Christenson’s quote.

“That’s just a little fire for us, and it paid off,” Valentine said. “You never let anybody talk bad about you, no matter who it is. As a D-line, we took that personally and made it a personal challenge to make sure we went out and dominated.”

Go Gophers!!

Good for them, stupid thing to say by someone in a below average O-line.

I am not sure that defense should be referred to as the blackshirts anymore. Their defensive front is pretty strong but their secondary is horrible.
