There are tons of threads on the first page of the football forum each contadicting the others with different information on the head coaching vacancy. I can't make heads or tails of what is new or correct information and have completely given up trying to keep up with all of the rumors until a new coach is announced. Thankfully with the end of the season there is a light at the end of the tunnel and we will have a new head coach announced soon so we can all get past all of the misinformation.

The Pre Iowa squirreliness has spilled into the coaching search full-time.

You'd better hope it's the light at the end of the tunnel and not the train coming!

Rational reasons why it might not be until next week that a coach is named:

1) They are still coaching a game this weekend (Kill, Schiano, Riley, Sarkisian, Edsall, Bud Foster, etc.)

2) There are contractual benefits to waiting (the only one I know of is Hoke's buyout going from $1.5 million to $1 million on December 15)

3) We're screwed and can't find anybody willing to take the job.
