The initial CFP poll comes out tomorrow night. For sh*ts and giggles, post here not who you think the top 4 should be, but rather the 4 teams you think the CFP committee will have at the top of the poll. Please include seeding. ... I'll start us.

Not looking for snarky comments, just curious how others are viewing the top teams in the nation.

Through 6 voters

We're unanimous that Clemson, LSU, and Ohio State will be among the 4.

1)LSU
2) Clemson
3)Ohio State
4) TCU

I struggled at #4 between Baylor and TCU. My rationale for picking TCU is as follows: the committee won't like Baylor's non-conference schedule, Baylor lost their QB, and perhaps most importantly TCU plays at fellow undefeated Oklahoma State this week. The committee won't want to bump Baylor in favor of TCU after last year so they'll put TCU in front to begin with.

I'd still have to go

1)LSU - for one week
2) Clemson
3) TCU
4) Ohio St - still haven't impressed

I think Clemson has been the most impressive this year. And I think Stanford is making a late charge and is pretty likely to make the final 4 (although they still get Oregon). I still don't believe in Iowa even though they could very easily make the Big Ten Championship game undefeated, I don't think they can beat either Michigan St or Ohio St. So I still only project one of those 3. My projection for end of the year:

1. Clemson
2. Ohio St
3. Alabama
4. Stanford

1) LSU
2) MSU
3) Clemson
4) OSU

Though not often pretty MSU has wins over Oregon & Michigan, which is more than can be said for OSU. I still expect OSU to win the B1G and make the CFP. But as of today without projecting into the future, MSU has the better body of work. And that's how the committee does its ranking (at least I think).

1. Clemson - Just a matter f time until they "Clemson" though!
2. LSU - after they beat Alabama they will be No.1!
3. Ohio State - Reigning Champs won't be left out unless they lose.
4. Baylor - Political move. Committee will seed them here to ensure no criticism for forecasting the effect of their lost quarterback.

5. Michigan State
6. TCU
Too many undefeated teams to include Alabama, who lost at home to a team which lost to Memphis.

The Final Tally: GopherHole Compilation Says LSU Will Be #1

Stopping it at 22 with Otis' projection. Clemson and LSU were unanimous selections for the top 4. I'll report tomorrow who (if any) had all 4 teams correct, as well as if anyone had the exact seeding of all 4 teams.

Teams were awarded 4 points for a #1 seed projection, 3 points for a #2, 2 points for a #3, and 1 point for a #4.

Unofficial GopherHole CFP Projection Compilation (points in parentheses)
1. LSU (71) -- 10 #1 votes
2. Clemson (67) -- 8 #1 votes
3. Ohio State (42) -- 3 #1 votes
4. Baylor (15) -- 1 #1 vote

3 "lock" predictions for the 1st CFP rankings

1. Clemson/LSU will be #1 and #2. It's just a matter of which order they come.

2. Baylor will not be in the top 4. There's no way the committee will reward Baylor for the schedule it's played to this point, even with their pinball numbers. That should not concern BU fans. The Bears will shoot up the rankings quickly if they continue to win because their schedule is back-loaded.

3. Iowa at worst will be ranked #5, and I won't be surprised at all if they crack the top 4. The Hawkeyes will be rewarded for the schedule they've played to this point. The Hawkeyes' biggest problem, however, is their schedule moving forward.
