I have not heard much about the DE from Lackawanna College since he committed last year. Does anyone know anything about his progress / potential?

No, but superficially if he is going to fit a system, Kill's should be it. It will be interesting to see if he can can improve his strength enough to play effectively, at least on third downs.

Scrolling through the roster the other day, I thought the say question.

Does anyone know if he played at all last year ? On the roster he is listed as a Junior so I would assume he must have played at some point as I believe he arrived last year as a Sophomore. If he is not quite ready this year I wonder if the coaching staff would consider a red shirt year for him.

I remember seeing him on the field a few times last season.

Yeah, Simpson played a bit last season. I actually think he played quite a bit on special teams. I don't really think we'll be looking to RS him, but he does have value in that he gives us depth and won't force us to burn a RS on an incoming FR for depth reasons. It's one thing if the incoming kid is going to get significant PT and help the team out, but I don't like the idea of being so thin at a position that we need to play guys early just to fill out a roster.

Simpson might be able to see the field a bit more this season too. I am curious to see what happens with Jacobs. I thought he looked pretty good at DE last year but he doesn't exactly fit the mold of the Kill DEs (Kill was saying that he expects guys over 280 to be playing inside).

I'm excited to see his progress this spring. I heard he gained 15-20 lbs of solid muscle since last season.

He played in 11 games going into the season finale versus Iowa. I'm assuming that he played in that contest, so that means he played in every contest.

Hmmm, I thought I recall him making a play or two.
