Les Miles almost fired from LSU. What would happen to him here?

I'm guessing if the Gopher football team had a record like Miles has had at LSU the past 15 years there would be a solid Gold statue of him right in front of TCF stadium. Also every athletic building would be renamed to the Les Miles building.

What would you do?

Eventually the fans would tire of him like they do with any coach (and this is not just at MN) and he would be fired. College football has become a place where once you establish a new high water mark, if you dip below that for a year or two you're on your way out.

Fat Pat and Can Souhan would writ articles demanding his resignation.

According to the logic of one poster here, if Miles was our coach next year and went 8-4 with the new AD he would be fired.

He'd have 3 or 4 seasons with 2-4 B10 wins; no support from admin. or local media and we'd be looking for a new coach by season 5. Same as it's gone for 40 years.

We have a similar situation in Lucia. Many are calling for his job even though he has done so much for our school and students. I wish we were better than that but it happens everywhere.

At LSU Miles has top recruiting classes every year. Currently number 2 with 10 four star recruits. He wouldn't have that here and therefore his success here would not be similar to LSU.

This is spot on. Can't say we would be any different with football after having success than any other sport. Lucia runs a great program. Won two national championships was in the national championship just two years ago and some people are complaining about him. No difference.

I hate to send the thread off topic, but Lucia has lost it for at least the last 5 years. He needs to go, anyone who consistently gets so little out of such a talented team is not doing his job. Most of his players peak as Freshman and go down hill from then on. The hockey team is quickly coasting off to being meaningless.

Moving to the B1G has killed any fan enthusiasm that was left. Mariucci is a masoleum now.

The WCHA was soooo much better than B1G Hockey. Our team suffers, cause the league is too easy. The non-conference schedule should be way harder.

A lot of people think Jerry Kill is the 2nd coming of Bear Bryant. We would've named the stadium after him.

Four straight conference titles, 2 trips to the Frozen Four, a national runner up finish, a conference tournament title in the last 4 years...he's lost it, man!

Don't use facts on gopherhole. Moderators, please ban him.

Make him governor, too, and provide lifetime free lefse.
