Shannon Brooks' TD was obviously incredible. But pay close attention to the effort and hustle that Leidner provides by sprinting right along with the run, and looking for some guys to block. That outta get him some big time respect in the film room:

Go Gophers!!

It is impressive how fast Mitch got down field and how eager he was to throw a block there. He needs blockers like that!

I actually thought mitch looked quicker than all the previous games so far. Hopefully thats good sign.

Look at how much the kid cares and how hard he tries. THAT'S a big reason Kill has stuck with Mitch I would imagine. Gotta love that effort. I sure hope Mitch has a great rest of the season. The kid deserves a break. Nobody works harder.

But he is not a division one QB! What a bunch of crock.:banghead:

he plays just well enough to keep his job. can you imagine managing this type of employee? M-TH youd be like this guy is a screw up and then on friday his sales totals would be just good enough. wait, most of us are either that guy or manage a guy just like that.

#9 for Purdue would have made that tackle if not for Leidner bumping him. Good job Leidner!

Mitch showing some speed. I swear a few games ago he looked a lot more unsure and slower when running.

He gets props for looking for someone to block? Really? If it weren't for Carter it's a 20 yard gain. Where is his credit for throwing the block that sprung him down the sideline, then cleaning up #9 before the goal-line to finish off, who Mitch couldn't effectively take out of the play back around the 25?

I get it, he's a hustler, but come on. There aren't any straws left to grasp at, here.

You mean the same guy who Carter blocked to spring him, and also was about to bring him down at the 10 before Carter dispatched him?

Guys, I get that you love Mitch. He's a great kid and a fierce competitor. He shows hustle, but there are a lot of people sitting at home on the couch who can hustle. Doesn't mean he should be this team's QB.

Go tell it to Kill. He has staked the success of his team and his reputation on Leidner as his QB. Through all the criticism Kill is still starting Leidner every game. So far it has worked out pretty well for Kill. Leidner has a higher winning percentage than any Gopher QB in the last 40 years. Lets face it. The Gophers have never been Quarterback U. Their last QB who received national attention for the high quality of his play was Sandy Stephens.

Once again, how often do you see a QB blocking 50+ yards down field? No one is saying Leidner is great because of this play. It was a nice effort play, that's it. Carter did a nice job as well, but that isn't something too out of the ordinary.

Good Lord, I swear Leidner could save 10 people from a burning building and someone will still find a way to downplay it or criticize him. It is okay to think Leidner sucks and still say it was a nice play.

He gets props for throwing a key block for our RB 45 yards downfield. Despite your best efforts to frame it as such, this is not a routine occurrence for a QB.
