TAW what are you hearing on Wisconsin side?

Chryst steam, I think he is the guy, Badger fans must have caught the wind of this by now. IF not we can put that to bed.
 

The more I see on Leach, the more I believe the GH'er who speculated that Leach is simply trying to show damages in his defamation case.

While he is helping his case, I don't believe that is the reason he is saying this. With both interviews, it was the reporter who reached out to Leach for info. I think Leach is just speaking his mind while helping his case at the same time.

Switching things up, what if the last 50 days have been a huge smokescreen designed to make the hiring of Leach seem all the more surprising? And maybe Leach and Maturi planned this whole thing including the lack of an interview and Leach's strib article to make it seem even more unlikely? One can dream...

I don't think so. Maturi had no apparent interest in Leach. If he's suddenly the guy, then Joel risks the perception that he got forced into the hire by the media/fans/ex-players.

Just about every year, there is talk of Chryst leaving for somewhere and we are grateful it hasn't happened yet. Realistically, we know we will lose him when the right job comes along. The fanbase is split on whether he wants a college head coaching job (he really doesn't like recruiting) or whether being the OC for an NFL team would be a better fit for his family. UW has done about all it can to keep him - his salary of $350K is more than about 20 D-1 Head Coaches. I suppose they could make his title "Assistant Head Coach," but he doesn't seem like a guy who cares about titles.

The general feeling is that he is good guy and our offense will suffer when he goes, but the fans will wish him well. The well-wishing might be a bit less if he goes to a Big 10 team...
 

I think Chryst is a very good assistant coach. I love the Badger offense.

But if he doesn't like to recruit, it would be best if we didn't hire him. That's a big part of the gig and we need to have a coach in place who is going to both keep Minnesota kids home and get the requisite skilled position players from other markets. That is going to take hard work and lots of it.

Don't take this as a dis on Chryst. As I said, I love that Badger offense.
