And rumors is probably rounding up. A lot of blogs are the virtual equivalent of stuff written in the men's room crapper. I don't know how much faith you can put in a guy named Frank the Tank. I think I've seen this blog in the past though, and some of his logic makes sense:

1.This is one list of schools that makes sense academically. Good point that besides the Ivy League, "Big 10" is about the only conference that means anything academically (other than maybe Pac10).

2.It jives with some of the talk about the BT wanting to extend their reach into the south on account of demographics (not to mention recruiting).

3.He isn't the first guy to speculate that UT is the ultimate goal

His other points make sense as well. I disagree about nd, I think Delaney would love to land them more than Texas, but maybe he realizes that getting the 'Horns to bolt the B12 is more doable than getting nd to give up their cushy gig. As a big 10 fantasy football player, though, the idea of having to research Vandy football makes me want to puke.

Liked the little tidbit about the tOSU prez's wife being a dope fiend. Actually though, watching Wizard of Oz while listening to DSotM is pretty freaky. You gotta start the album right when the MGM lion roars.

Texas, in my mind, is the best option. And if the Big 12 disintegrates, I do not want to Texas in the Pac 10 or SEC.

I'm not sure if you took the time to read all his other posts on the topic of expansion, but this is not a fly by the seat of his pants guy. He logic is sound and based on facts (most of them sourceable). He clearly and fully explains his ideas and never claims to know what the f is going on. Name of the blog aside, this is a site you want to keep an eye on as expansion continues.

Great read...I was reading the responses and continue to be amazed at how dumb the SEC/ACC followers are...they just don't understand that the Big Ten is an academic conference first and that the decision to expand will be made by the Presidents not the ADs. I am 100% sure that any expansion will increase our academic brand as well as our reach into new and growing markets or it wont happen.

Gee, I thought I was giving this dude some props

I agree that unlike a lot of other bloggers, he uses logic, as opposed to just throwing a bunch of rumors out there to see what sticks. I have read some of his other posts. Maybe Frank the Tank is the Illini version of MV & FringeBowl? Not sure where he got the name. Maybe Frank could eat a salad or two?

Its a refreshing change from Tom Deinhart's twitter feed. He would breathlessly tweet something he he overheard in the men's room while in the crapper. Granted, its hard to do much analysis when you're limited to 142 characters.

Sorry, I read your OP after a long day and got too fixated on the small dig on his name. Rereading your OP I see that I misread the intent.

Much like you I've liked the guy's take b/c he takes the time to think before posting. IMO the stuff he's put out is head and shoulders above what most sports columnists have been slapping together for months now.

Frank's blog is great. If you hadn't already, check out the comments section. Great stuff there too.
