The search for a new athletic director at the University of Minnesota could take longer than desired, university president Eric Kaler said Monday.

The university is seeking a replacement for former athletic director Norwood Teague, who resigned after sexual harassment claims made by two university employees. Kaler said the search could prove difficult given its timing.

"In terms of timing for a replacement, this is really not a good time to be in the market for an AD (athletic director)," Kaler said. "We're going want somebody who is pretty involved right now with football and then they're going to be involved with basketball, so really the time to look is a March, April timeframe and that's what we are gearing up to do."

Yep, makes sense. Just like with the coaching search at Illinois the timing is not ideal to try and get someone that is already in place. In terms of our situation this will give Goetz a long chance to audition for the job as she will have an entire football and basketball season to prove that she is the right fit for the job going forward.
