The Gophers (4-1, 1-0 Big Ten) host Northwestern (3-2, 2-0 Big Ten) on Saturday at TCF Bank Stadium and head coach Jerry Kill wants the home crowd to play a factor.

"I told all our players tonight, you've got to win at home," Kill said. "No huddle, fast huddle, calling plays on the line of scrimmage, that's hard to do when the crowd's standing on their feet and you've got a full house."

Go Gophers!!

I will be standing and making some noise! the season ticket holders around me will just have to deal with it.

Here we go again. I love to cheer. Do it all the time during game day. News flash, you can cheer and make noise sitting down. Yes, it's a big play, get up and cheer. No need to stand for long periods of time unless your in the student section. Go Gophers.

Never make a road trip to Kinnick. I've been there the last two times we've played in IA City, and nobody sat down while play was occurring.

I'm not sure why their fans pay for seatbacks b/c it appears they don't sit.

Sideline passes for this weekend... Will be standing but not sure how much I can yell and make noise. Guess we will be told all of this when we show up Saturday morning.

I hope our crowd doesn't disappoint. Anyone remember our best ever 11am crowd? Nothing jumps out at me.

I'll be cheering loud and proud from #BeanTown....sad I can't be there. GO GOPHERS #GnawEmDown

I think lasyear's Nebraska gam was at 11 -- pretty good crowd, even with a lot of red. I think the Cal game in the Brewster era was 11, and that was outstanding.

Let's face it, when you get an 11:00 kickoff it's typcally becaues the game isn't that attractive. That's true for TV viewers as well as those in the stadium, and for the first five years of the new stadium, the product wasn't very good. I think much of the "ho hum" of most of our 11:00 games is due to the matchup. This should be an exciting game if you're a Gopher fan.

He should add that people need to shut the hell up when the Gophs have the ball. I love when the crowd goes nuts when it's 3rd or 4th and one.

It was. Was at that game with my brother. Crowd was great, full house and was really into it that morning. Was that game when Cal was ranked something like 5th in the country and where Eric Decker made the amazing touchdown catch while getting rocked in the chin, and then Decker also later on threw a sweet touchdown pass to Marquies Gray on a reverse play from Weber.

Guarantee: If you're in the stadium, outside, or at home you can yell and make as much noise as you want and JK has stated that's what he wants.

But if everyone could just stay seated, that'd be great.

Thanks for posting this. We really have a dumbazz fanbase when it comes to making noise when we are on offense. I can't believe people have yet to figure out that there is a difference between 3rd or 4th and one for offensive vs. defense.

This rant aside, be loud as hell when NW has the ball! I don't care if you stand, sit or lie down as long as you're being disruptive when NW is trying to check-off at the line of scrimmage.

Ski-U-Mah and Go Gophers!

I think this game is giant in terms of the importance for fan excitement going forward this year. We win, we then only have the two biggest conference cupcakes left between us and a 4-0 start and being right in the thick of the B1G race. We lose, and then we blew a big chance while favored at home, and it starts to have a "not again" flavor to it that I think would suck the wind out of the fanbase.

**cough**cough* students **cough**cough**

I seem to remember the people in the open end of the stadium all standing and yelling for a 3rd and 1 during the San Jose State game with Streveler desperately trying to quiet them. The students do it too, but it's not just them (us).

There was no guarantee that those people were Gopher fans. The End Zone (Vikings) tickets were heavily included in the Pick 2 Packages.

It's not just us. I caught the end of Bama/Miss last weekend, and when Miss was driving down the field for the go-ahead TD, they were heading toward the endzone with the students/band. They had a camera from behind that endzone, and there was the band director, successfully getting everyone around him to make some serious noise. I couldn't believe what I was seeing considering the situation. They were making a TON of noise and commotion.

I sit there and recognize about 2/3 of the section every week. Not sure what is normal stadium wide but there you go for the end zone.

Didn't know that, thanks. Bought 3 sets of the Pick 2 Packages and most times the "best available" included those End Zone seats. Wonder why they won't keep quiet when the Gophers have the ball then?

Filthy west-end casuals.

212 will be ready and loud!

Go Gophers! Beat the Cats!

This really illustrates what we want to avoid and that is we do not want to be the Mississippi of the north!

If you want to sit and be quiet then watch the game on your couch. If you are a real fan and want to support the team then stand up and cheer and act like you care.

I was unaware that you can't cheer and act like you care while sitting down. Thank you for showing me the light.

Unless you have a physical limitation that prevents you from standing every once in a while, I would say no you do not actually care if you stay seated throughout the game. At the very least, don't complain about fans showing passion and support for the team.
