I listened to Korzo this morning and he is totally on board with this hire...

He brings energy, a great pedigree, experience, and a hard work ethic to the Gophers. He also predicts that
Pitino will be the best Coach in Gopher History winning mutlple NCAA Titiles (Not necessarlirly with us)....but there is a great chance he will stay...

It is great to hear some positivity about this hire from the local media....

The Sports Huddle

Sid: "Some people have given me grief on the internet for questions I asked at the press conference. Well that's my job to ask tough questions."

It is his job. Unfortunately, I don't think anyone would describe what he said as "questions."

although he seems to be on board with Pitino now....

Everything Sid says is a question. The biggest of which is..."In such a degree of senility, how can he remember his question from beginning to end?"

The biggest thing with Sid isn't the questions, but rather the delivery of said questions.

If you're going to rip on Sid, then you'd better rip on the "geniuses" who asked Pitino to comment on specific recruits, which would be an NCAA violation.

Frankly, I thought most of the media at the Press Conference rolled over and played dead. Teague gave "non-answer" answers to most of the questions about the search process, and the media didn't challenge him.

Like I have said, Teague is no dummy. Especially when he said..."there were reports of intervieiws with prospective coaches that I had never met with." That is the line that put the media into their cocoon.

And I have to admit, I detected a grin of sarcasm from Teague when he said that.

This is how coaching searches go, AD's are always evasive after the fact. Everyone knows Teague offered Flip the job with conditions and gauged the interest of more qualified candidates, I nor anyone else should expect Teague to give the blow by blow of the search after Pitino was named.

O.K. I'll bite. Who is Korzo?

I never listen to sports radio here any more, so I truly don't know who this guy is.

You are not alone. I have never heard of this Korzo person. I have heard of Sid and he should retire or be fired. What a "Genius".

He was a sports radio guy back in the day and then became a lawyer, he now does Sunday mornings on AM 1500. Like Dave and Trent on Saturday's he's actually one of the better and more informed listens in TC sports radio.

Scott Korzonowski is on 1500espn....he actually is one of the better educated and articulate personalities. POD cast his program......

gg. bolded is total b.s. I don't buy that, Everyone knows because the media said it? That ought to tell you something right there.

No doubt. What would possess Sansevere to ask such a stupid and pointless question? Chad Hartmann asked the exact same type of question of Tubby on KFAN when he was first hired. Is it possible these schmoes don't know? How can they not?

People have been ripping on those people quite a bit on this forum.

As far as the rest of the media, what were they going to do? They could keep acting like it was a long process, but it wasn't (it was right about average), they could demand to know the exact details, but that's impossible and they'd get the blow off. That's not even how negotiations work.

They also knew the situation. They created the perception that this was some bungled long process. The bugled part. . .they'll never know. The long part . . . was false. They'd be better off focusing on a real story (hiring of Pitino) than to focus on their made up non-story.

Lastly, your expectations for our media are way too high. They are in the deep end with Teague (and most ADs). A huge portion of our media knows almost nothing about college sports (see said recruiting questions) and they want to have an exchange with an Athletic Director, good luck!

I don't think many of them know. I wouldn't be surpised if some of them are trying to trip up a coach on purpose for the exposure of the NCAA violation.

I wish Sid had clarified what he thought his tough question was. Was it "why did the process take so long"? Or was it "is it true you're a genius?"

Given the fact one of the guys said "Travis Reid" instead of Reid Travis, I think he just doesn't have a clue as to what's going on.

Yeah, I think you're probably right.

I've just seem some of the guys ask about specific recruits over and over again and I'm probably giving them the benefit of the doubt (they can't possibly be dumb enough to not comprehend this fact).

Well if Korzo is buying in then I'm not worried.
By the way, who the hell is Korzo?

Someday St Peter will call into his show and we'll all miss the old codger.

Please realize that I have been a Sid supporter for a long long time, and will continue to be such. I just try lay out a reminder that Sid is getting older and it sometimes is embarrassing to hear what he says.

Anyone who is a Sid supporter has to be an athletic supporter.
