And they have their Tight End. I'm really intrigued by this guy, he played QB and LB in high school, Kill tried him all over the place in camp last summer, I think he cold be a real sleeper.

Kieft will be a mauling TE for us in the mold of Goodger and Plsek. The kind of player we always need. Word is Reeves loved him when he camped this summer.

You sure? I'm thinking Maxx/lingen

I'm glad he switched to the good guys. Cannot stand the cows of ndsu.

Seems a lot like Maxx/Anyanwu. All played QB, OLB, DE and Duke played some TE and WR. Lingen wasn't very involved at Wayzeta and was really only used as a third OT and occasionally thrown to in the flats but nothing more.

Looks like a beast! Not seeing much technique, just a lot of power. We will see how he improves as he gets coached up.

He looks like a developmental project, developmental projects, are how we can find great players occasionally. Two or three guys a year are OK, the worst case, is that they contribute on special teams. With Kieft and Devers I think we are about maxed out.

yeah I bet he will redshirt, but itnerested to see where he ends up.

I just hope his middle name isn't Keith. Seriously, looks like a good athlete with some position flexibility. Can never have enough of those.

It looks like Chase Allen is going to have his pick of helmet schools, which is sad in a way. But I will say this. Allen was pretty much under the radar and I think the Gophers were the first power conference school to give him an offer (I could be wrong on that, but I know we offered him before the helmet schools arrived). That tells me that this set of coaches is really wired in throughout the country and catches the buzz on a lot of guys before they blow up nationally. Makes me optimistic.

THey're entertaining.

They still think we wouldn't even present a challenge to them and we're afraid of them

I suppose they will spin this as "Kieft would have a harder time seeing the field at NDSU." I wonder if Ko is any relation to former U of M history professor Dr. David Kieft. I took a diplomatic history course from him and he was an awesome lecturer.

Me too. Professor Kieft++ Convinced my girlfriend at the time, now wife, to take his class when she needed an elective. Incredible lectures.

Leave everything else out, if he wants to go Pre-Med, this was the smart move.

Des Moines Register: Sioux Center all-state pick Ko Kieft selects Minnesota

Ko Kieft popped onto Minnesota’s recruiting radar at a camp in June, and the Gophers tracked the Sioux Center senior’s progress throughout the high school football season.

A six-month evaluation procession morphed into a brief courtship this week after Minnesota offered the all-state linebacker a scholarship.

Kieft wrote in a text message that he was swayed by “a chance to play Big Ten football and the great undergrad programs at Minnesota involving the medical field.”

Kieft backed out of the commitment he made in September to North Dakota State and gave his pledge Wednesday to the Gophers. The versatile 6-foot-4, 235-pound senior who played quarterback and led Sioux Center in rushing touchdowns and tackles is expected to begin his career with the Gophers at tight end.

“He’s done everything he needs to do in the weight room and he’s gone to speed and acceleration camps,” Sioux Center coach Tim Van Regenmorter said in October. “That’s why he has an offer from every FCS school out there. He loves North Dakota State, but it’s every kid’s dream to (play FBS football)."

Go Gophers!!

The last time MN finished ahead of ndsu in the sagarin ratings was 2010, so there's that.

So that somehow proves that MN stands no chances against NDSU? Do you realize that these same rankings have MN only 8 spots behind your favorite team despite going 5-7? Do you also realize that these rankings have Ohio St. at #4 and Michigan St. at #9?

I'm not sure why you're posting here instead of celebrating another NC appearance.

Nobody cares about Sagarin ratings except NDSU fans.

But the rankings are such a great way to compare these two teams. Since 2011, the Gophers have played 21 top 30 and six top 10 teams in the Sagarin ratings. Meanwhile NDSU has played one in the top 30 and zero in the top 10 in that same time frame. They've practically played the same schedules.

But, but, but Sagarin! NDSU would have won at least 80% of those games!

The young man is obviously looking out for his future. There is no comparison, period.
