This will be an intense game. After the Nebraska game we had Husker fans come up to us and tell us what a class act Gopher fans were. Our group returned the compliment. If we win the game I will bite my tongue and not do any finger pointing-
taunting. We lose I'm sure we will get some jack wagon Badger fans throwing some drunken slurrs at us. It has happened here before and in Madison. Our group will turn deaf ears to these so called "fans " unless they get face to face. I think most Gopher fans will react the same way. But if we win, I will be screaming: " The ax is where it belongs "!!

Every time I've been to a game at Madison, I've been treated like complete schit. Attempted fights, kicked out of bars, etc. for no reason other than being a Gopher fan. I will be doing my part to treat every Badger fan like complete schit whether we win, lose, or draw.

Anyone with that attitude has never been to a game in Madison. They don't deserve to be treated with class.

Just another Gopher fan that wants to be like the Badgers. Prove that you're better than them, don't stoop to their level.

I agree with the Ron Burgundy (Stay Classy) philosophy here. Take the high road. There were two jerk Nebraska fans behind us that started to get mouthy when the Gophers took control of that game. It's better not to engage with the drunk and disorderly in my opinion.

Not interested in showing any class toward Badger fans. Not at all.

I won't say a word to those people. They will be drunk, disorderly and disrespectful. They don't need to be spoken to in any context.

Remember Ron's rules for getting into a fight with heated rivals "no touching of the face or hair."

It doesn't matter if we show them class. They're so stupid, obnoxious, and uncivilized that it simply won't make a difference. If you don't believe me, ask any Nebraska fan that has encountered Badger fans since joining the Big 10 (as others have said repeatedly on multiple threads). That said, I refuse to stoop to their level and I will never be disrespectful to visiting fans.

I have had a few experiences with idiot Badger fans over the years. I have found the best reaction is to simply laugh at them.

If a Badger fan gets hit by a speeding bus, I promise to politely step around him.

Completely agree on most of that. I've been to madison three times now for games and never a good experience with skunk fans. I usually keep my cool with opposing fans when we are at home. However, once they start ripping into either myself, the people around us, the football program or our Great State, I have no choice but to give it right back to them. I would hope everyone else would do the same. I'm not talking about ripping into opposing fans for no reason and definitely not talking about ripping those there to watch a football game and cheer for their team - that's part of the whole experience and they have every right to do so. But those who'd rather rip our program than cheer for their's need to be put in their place or they'll just keep on ripping. Just one season ticket holder's/Alum's opinion.

+1

Let's emulate the Nebraska fans, not those of our bordering states. When we were winning in the middle decades of the 20th century, we had a Minnesota nice/Minnesota smart sports fan reputation, as well as showing great passion for the team on the field. Just as the product on the field has had to raise its game to be competitive, so must we as sportsmen in the stands.

Well, that about completes the cycle doesn't it? Rest assured you will be sh!tting on some decent people along the way. Advice: save your sh!t for the sh!theads and respond in kind to the rest.

I will defend one Badger fan, my sister.

In her 5 years in Madison between 1980-4, she never missed a game. You notice that is before 1993. When she moved to Phoenix in 1986, she alway flew her Badger flag. She roots for the Badgers, but remembers the bleak days before BA and never gets too high and mighty.

Magic words to use with obnoxious Badger fans: "I remember when I had my first beer."

My response to insults taunts is going to be IWOA some of what the Iowa fans were chanting on the bus ride over. At least we can spell we do it all of the time M-I-N-N-E-S-O-T_A. I'm just glad they cannot get there hands on as many tickets as they have in the past.

I only really had a couple bad experiences at Camp Randall and really onley one that was seriously bad. That was 1998 after Randy Moss had the Monday night game at Lambeau field against the Packers. Badger fans were in a fowl mood and seemed pretty cantankarous that day. that and a waitress threatened to spit in our food and we were not sure if she was serious or not, she was pretty stern with us for being Gopher fans and having the nerve to show up on game day.
Some up and over comments in the upper deck, and of course the usual A$$hole chants(They must be quite fond of us). There was this one lady who decided she would yell at us the whole game in the next section over. There kicking our butts and she is yelling all game long. Mud ducks this, Minnesota fans suck, you all eat turtle or duck sh!t that at one point someone asked her if they could rent her out for Halloween at the haunted house they volunteered at. Wow did that get her already boiling blood just over the top.
"Lady how much do you charge to haunt a house" we need some scary people for Halloween to make money for charity. At that point her husband stood up and said You want a fight I will kick all of your a$$es. He was pretty loaded as he was kind of Wobbly and you could smell the whiskey from his spittle.
"Eat my Sh!T all of you Gopher fans can just eat my Sh!t". The she flipped us off with both hands and yelled out all of you can just Eat my sh1t. This at a game that Ron Dayne was totally abusing and pounding the Gophers. Last time we were there they kind of looked at us like a lost puppy, nobody really said anything not even an A-hole chant. The last two times they pretty much just left us alone.
I'm not really thinking there will be that many obnoxious fans on Saturday unless things get really out of hand. The weather is going to be far to cold to care about insults, the only thing I'm going to want to do is stay warm move around and cheer on the Gophers.

Do people actually mind getting the A-hole chant from opposing fans? When I go to Camp Randall, I expect it (I've sat in the student section every time I've gone). I expect the same if Badger fans are sitting anywhere near our students. To me that's more playful rival banter than actual hostility but maybe others see it differently.

The interesting thing is the whole Big Ten feels the same way we do.

Go Gophers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
