This game was huge. First of all, being there, there were a lot of Iowa fans, but NO WAY was it the Kinnick North disaster that we envisioned. Still easily mostly Gophers fans. Plus, it was cold. Lots of Iowa fans made the trek to sit in the cold and watch their team LOSE. There will be at least a couple of thousand Iowans that will not bother to make that trip in the future. Great game Gophers, best played game of the season. This is why we have rivalries. A win like this makes a horrible season tolerable. FANTASTIC!!!!

Iowa fans must be longing for the Metrodome. Maybe that can hold an all-night vigil to save the place. Heck, they can have it.

Especially if they can pair up with unknown partners and go to the mens' rooms!!!!

Once the Hawkeye faithful heard that the stall doors were narrower than at the Metrodome and would not accommodate the corn-fed, two axehandle wide princesses that would have been riding up from Iowa in cattle trucks, many likely decided to stay home.

It felt like an authentic, old school football game with those piles of snow on the corners of the field. So happy that those semi-driving, ethanol ingesting munts from the south got to enjoy our Gophers stuff it down their throats. Come back in a couple years and feel it again, pigs.

LOL!!

How was the attendance? It did not look like a sell out crowd on tv, but it was hard to tell the crowd size. How was the student section? Empty on top?

Student attendance was not great. A lot of Iowa fans there (presumably cheap tickets to get). That said, I was fearful it would be A LOT worse. Plenty of people in my section (135) to high five during Gopher highlights. It was no worse than the Metrodome years, and possibly better.

Given where we've been, it's a fine place to move on from. No way did Iowa fans walk away thinking they were in charge of TCF, and not just because they lost.

Did the weather help?

I was thinking the same thing - would Stanzi have had a better day in the Dome? Probably.

Attendance from up in 212...

Probably 30,000 to 35,000 max.

Folks at the student end probably have the greatest idea...I did not see the lower deck on the visitor side.

Announced sellout. Amazing to me how many folks did not make this game.

It was fantastic!

It definitely did not look like a sell out crowd on tv. You could see parts of MINNESOTA in the seats. I hope that based on how this season ended that the Minnesota faithful continue to fill the stadium up next season.

The Gophers are undefeated at TCF Bank Stadium in temperatures below freezing...

I think...

Unless the Illinois game last year was below freezing...

The Gophers might be undefeated at TCF Bank Stadium in temperatures below freezing.

The illinios game last year was unseasonably warm.

It was a disappointment (weather and outcome).

I agree with the OP - was not as bad as I thought it would be. Plus the kids palyed well and beat a top 25 team...

Glad to hear it's no longer Kinnick North. I have to disagree with the OP, though... The season is, IMO, a success. We got Floyd. To me, a bowl winning season is empty without the Pig, Jug and Axe. Well, we didn't have a shot at the Jug, lost the Axe.. But Floyd is finally HOME. That makes the season far better than tolerable. After what we've been through as a fanbase and as Gophers, this season could have turned out much much better, but given how we started and how we ended.. I couldn't have written a better ending. I've still got goosebumps.

Re: the season a success? We'll agree to disagree, Formo. However, a better ending? I have goosebumps myself. This was great!!!!

It was a great day for an outdoor football game. Tailgating was a blast in Ski-U-Mah as usual. I was surprised and impressed at the Gopher faithful turnout. Wasn't surprised at the light student turnout. Daughter lives in a house with 11 other girls on campus, and before the game she asked to sit with her parents because all 11 other girls were out of town for the Holiday.

Wife and I fiendishly laughed all the way home.

So.. How come PantherHawk is so quiet these days, anyone know? Not talking just on here, either... Even on the ESPN boards he's pretty quiet.

I hope his Star Wars collection can help sooth his pains. Wouldn't want anything bad to happen to his punk ass.. NOT. =D

I had to ask the pig fans how they liked our new stadium. They pretty much just wanted to leave,so I wished them a nice trip south!!!

When we first got to our section (217) and saw all the Iowa fans, I immediately thought "oh sh!t, another game listening to the delusional Hawkeye fans talking about 'Kinnick North'". However, the fans, much like the Iowa players, did not seem all that into the game. Very little trash talk, very few drunken fans stumbling through the aisles like the Metrodome days. I don't know if it was the cold, the fact that they have underachieved this year, or the quick 10-0 lead.

No matter what the reason, it was a much more pleasant crowd than I expected, and it was great to see them filing out after Gray's final first down!

The only downside was that my spare ticket, $60 face value, went for $5!

I was in the bathroom and an Iowan fan was nice enough to announce, "this stadium is awsome." As a Gopher fan left he responded, "yeah, except for all the Iowans.." He got some major support.

To echo others, it most definitely was NOT Kinnick North. Hell, Ohio State had more fans last month.

I will be happy to turn Carver-Hawkeye into Williams South, however.

See you there Jike.

Most of the Iowa fans around us behaved themselves. I kept asking, but didn't see Lois anywhere.

South Dakota and USC had more fans than IOWA.
